Vehicle Detail
This 2006 Toyota Highlander has a 4 cylinder engine and 3 rows of seating (seats 7). I bought it in the spring of 2011 as a 1-owner vehicle. I have been using it as a courier and have maintained it meticulously (oil change every 4,000 miles with a synthetic blend; major maintenance every 30,000 miles). This particular type of Toyota engine has a major flaw: The intake manifold separates from the engine block because the bolts are worn out, and as a result the coolant leaks out. As it turns out, this is a quite common problem, and Toyota chose not to publicize it. I found out the hard way. To fix this problem is a major repair, and could mean that an engine replacement is needed. The catalytic converter is in need of replacement, which is the cause of the dash warning lights that can be seen on one of the pictures. Finally, the top engine torque rod is broken and needs to be replaced, which is a comparatively minor fix. Everything else is in decent condition. Cosmetically there are some flaws: The front bumper does not completely attach to the left fender; the rear tailgate is bent at the bottom, and there's a big scratch on the right front fender. The windshield has a long crack in it.
