Vehicle Detail
1951 Chevy 3100. Inspected rebuilt with Illinois issued VIN. Bought the truck to restore last summer. Paint is OK, there are sanding marks if you look close at cab. The bodywork is not perfect. Looks good from a few feet away. The cab has 1960's patch panels in floor. The outer cowls look OK. The truck runs and drives ok. Here are the details: Engine and drivetrain: 235 with 3 speed on column. Original torque tube drivetrain. The truck runs and drives down the road. it starts up easy. The engine casting numbers indicate 1962 vintage with the 848 casting heads. The engine has a Rochester carb. Truck has a new chrome valve cover, the valve cover in photos is not included in auction. Brakes and wheels: Stock Drum with 6 wheel bolts. Wheels are slot aluminum with fairly fresh rubber. Bed: Newer wood kit with flat top bedsides. Bedsides and tailgate are aftermarket. Look good no rust. The bed is a 1954 model. Previous owner wanted the flat top bed like many custom trucks have now. The bed has brackets that were made to fit the running boards to the bed. Wood kit appears to be new like the bedside box kit. Front Clip: Is in good condition. Emblems are pitted. Cab: has sunroof. I have an original roof to cut patch from if you wish to close the sunroof off. The cab floor has patch panels. Inner cowls as well. See photos. The outer and rear lower cowls were replaced by previous owner. They look pretty good. Fuel tank is in cab as stock. Cab has newer electronic aftermarket gauges in dash. Seat has a tear in it. See pics.Seat frame and springs are very good. Door handles are pitted. they are cheap to replace. Glass is good. battery was moved to inner fender. The wiper motor is not hooked up. It is included with the truck. Truck is converted to key start 12 volts. Frame: It has corrosion that will need to be fixed (crossmember gusset) speedway sells a replacement. Not affecting driving but if you want to show it you will need to restore it. The truck is a project... Good start needs tlc. The title will transfer to other states. No I cannot manipulate it to be a non rebuilt. Most hotrods are rebuilt. The title is clear. On Feb-02-14 at 07:35:15 PST, seller added the following information: I am getting a lot of emails regarding "can I drive it cross country.... The gearing is for 1950...top speed 55mph...go over that and do it for a long time....you will blow it up and blame me. The wiper motor is not hooked up...no wipers...bad idea. The truck is a great buy for someone who knows what they are buying. It can be driven around locally... No problem... Put it on the interstate at rush hour....not me. Will it last forever and never break? I don't know?...it is 60 yrs old.
