Original, unrestored 1961 BMW R26. This motorcycle had been in dry storage for many years before I purchased it. Everything appears to be original, (including paint) with the exception of the muffler and seat. All that I have done with the beauty is clean off some of the dust, checked all fluids, connected 6 volts and poured gas in the tank. It started and ran beautifully after about 5 kicks with no smoke or suspicious engine noises and the transmission shifts through all gears as it should. Here are some of the things that will need to be addressed before it will be road worthy. The petcock leaks, will need a new battery, the rubber on the hardy disc. connected to the drive assembly deteriorated so that will have to be replaced and the front tire does not hold air for very long. There is a dent on the left side of the gas tank (please see pic.) and I'm not sure if the brake light assembly is correct. Other than that, this is a very solid candidate for restoration or fix a few things and just enjoy. I'd love to keep it but I'm moving and trying to lighten the load.
