1974 AMC Gremlin X Rare Factory 304 CI V8 in Original condition offered by Gas Monkey Garage. The Gremlin was a "bold and innovative" response to two imminent crises faced by the American automobile industry at the time of its design: reduced gasoline supplies, and an "alarming increase" in the sale of fuel-efficient imports. AMC executives apparently felt confident enough to not worry that the Gremlin name might have negative connotations. "Defined by Webster's as 'a small gnome held to be responsible for malfunction of equipment.' American Motors' definition: 'a pal to its friends and an ogre to its enemies! We found this good, solid example having been stored for some time in a dry environment. We brought it back to the Gas Monkey Garage and got the motor running enough to test drive it. We cleaned it up a bit & had the paint buffed to reveal a still shiny finish. The paint looks good for its age showing some scratches & dings. The interior is as we found it needing some love to restore it back to original condition (see all photos). This car runs & drives but will need complete servicing prior to driving. This is an excellent candidate for A Museum Quality Restoration project, Advertising & Promotional use or that 70’s Hot Rod Project you’ve been looking for!
