2 registered owner 1971 Javelin SST 4 barrel-360. The original owner was Canadian and owned the car for 31 years. He wintered in Florida and towed the Javelin to Florida behind his RV. He left the car in Florida most of the time, only occasionally towing it back to Canada. The second owner lived in Wet Palm Beach, Florida and purchased it in 2002, he found out he had cancer weeks after he got it and the car sat in his driveway. Over a 10 year period, I looked at the car every time I visited a friend who lived next door to the Javelin owner. In 2012, I was able to purchase the car. The car shows 66006 miles. I'm was told by the second owner that these are original miles. I can't verify the miles with any documentation, but the car sat in the original owners Florida garage for many summers, it sat in the second owners driveway for 10 years that I witnessed. Also, the velour interior would be tattered if it were 166006 and it's in pretty decent condition with only very minor wear When I got the Javelin, as a precaution because it sat unstarted for 10 years, I fogged the cylinders and put a breaker bar on the crank pulley to rotate the engine. I replaced every ignition component, replaced the strut rods and bushings, front brake calipers, brake booster, brake pads, water pump, radiator, carburetor(with an N.O.S. factory rebuilt unit), floor shifter with a better condition one, removed the tow bar attachments and removed the gas tank to find it amazingly spotless. It starts right up and idles nicely, smoke is nearly non-existent. The transmission doesn't go into reverse easily, but revving will usually engage it. I've been told the bands need adjusted/tighten, but it may need overhauled, I'm not sure. Forward gears work without any issues, but there is a small leak in the transmission. The brake rotors need turned, as the car "bumps" as you stop. The carb needs professionally tuned, but works as is. The body is straight and unmolested. The passenger door sags and needs lifted slightly to close. The radiator has a leak from where I bumped it. There are areas of rust that I don't consider major, just patch repairs are needed. Some of the paint is bubbling in a few areas and there is some rust on the interior of the drivers A-pillar. The underneath is in good condition, the inner rockers have some rust, but the floor pans are very good. The vinyl top is in good condition. The interior is in very nice condition and lights, signals, indicators and gauges all work. The rear view mirror is loose.The drivers seat has a slight tear in the velour and the springs are weak, I have replacement material in a slightly lighter color blue. The front valance was damaged when I was loading it on the U-Haul dolly. I have a replacement with turn signals and the correct factory color paint from Tower paints is included. Please expect to do restorations/repairs on the systems of this car and that the transmission may just need adjusted/flushed or possibly overhauled. It's a good project car. It has the SST interior with factory dual exhaust. It has a working, non-original radio. This Javelin has been identified by a few groups as the earliest known surviving 1971that they have in their databases. I've tried to list every issue, more than most folks do. Please ask questions.
