This bike is absolutely a blast to ride, around town, on the highway, or traveling the interstate. You will get used to the automatic transmission in about 5 miles and will probably rarely bother using the bike's manual gear change capability. As you may know, the big scooters have automatic "transmissions" but they all use a combination of belts and pulleys to achieve gear changes. The Honda NC700X uses an automotive type 6-speed tranny operating through a double-clutch system. It's automatic if you like, or you can run through the gears with a paddle shifter (think Porsche). Another advantage inherent in this new generation bike is that great fuel economy has been specifically engineered in. The recommended fuel is 87 octane (the cheap stuff, relatively), and the miles per gallon you can expect on every fill-up is in the neighborhood of 65 to 70 MPG! Talk to other NC700X riders, this is not an EPA estimate, this is real world results, and the bike still jumps off from the stoplight, down the on-ramp and your doing 70MPH in short order. You can even improve on this performance if you use the thumb shifter and put the bike in the S-Mode. It will then up-shift at higher RPMs. You can also manually downshift to decelerate down hills. Accessories: Center-Stand (it should be standard, but it isn't), Large Hondaline Top Trunk (lockable On and Off the bike, plus it's absolutely watertight, Cee Bailey windshield (big comfort improvement over the standard Honda postage stamp), Accessory 12-V Power Plug (charge your cell phone, or other gadget), Throttlemeister friction control. and - - IF you bid the Buy It Now Price I am including a Garmin Nuvi GPS with R-A-M mounting system -- right where you can clearly see it). Check the prices on all this stuff and you'll be well north of $1,200! Okay, why am I selling? I'm going to turn 76 next month and I think it is time to turn in my helmet and gloves. I've had bikes all my life and never had a problem, so, sadly, I am leaving the sport - - but with a clean record. However, at my age, you can be assured that this bike has been ridden conservatively and it is in perfect shape. The scheduled maintenance is up to date and it is not very complicated or expensive in the first place - - another plus for the bike. You can ride it a looong time on the cheap.
