Vehicle Detail
This car starts with both your feet outside on the garage floor... just a quick touch of the mid-dash starter button. The vehicle has been maintained for decades by qualified British car experts, and has never been neglected. I am thinning out my collection of fine cars from the 50's and 60's, having recently moved to a nice Texas ranch and developed interests in horses, etc. Here are some stats on the vehicle:Engine3,442 cc (3.4 L) 210 BHP DimensionsWheelbase107 in (2,718 mm)Length180 in (4,572 mm)[1]Width67 in (1,702 mm)Height58 in (1,473 mm)Weight3,174 lb (1,440 kg) A 3.4-litre car like this one, except that the tested vehicle had the automatic transmission, was road-tested by The Motor magazine in England when the 3.4 Litre Mk2 was introduced; it had a top speed of 119.9 mph (193.0 km/h) and could accelerate from 0-60 mph (97 km/h) in 11.9 seconds. A touring fuel consumption of 19.0 miles per imperial gallon (14.9 L/100 km; 15.8 mpg-US) was recorded (source: Wikipedia.org) My Jaguar is still factory fitted with its original twin SU-6HD carburetors. The automatic choke works as designed. This car has been enjoyed by my wife (who happens to be the Golden-Globe winning, 5-time Emmy nominated, retired television star Ruth Buzzi) and myself on several cross-country excursions, from California to Texas, to New Orleans, down to through Texas hill country, etc. and has always delivered us safely and without incident. It's an eye-catching color and has the most universally appealing body shape of almost any car made. That, and the performance of these cars, caused Jaguar to sell more than 20,000 units during its production run of 5 years, so it was very, very popular even though I think it cost more than a new Cadillac at the time. In England, the police used them because they could catch just about anything on the highway and because their countryside demands cornering capabilities that most cars couldn't adhere to. This car sticks to the road like glue around corners, and today it steers as nicely as it did the day it left Coventry. I fell so much in love with the 3.4 litre Mk2's that I bought 4 of them for my collection. My age dictates that I take some reasonable steps to simplify things a bit, so I am selling the last of them over the next month or two, focusing on them one at a time so, please, don't ask about the other cars; thank you. FYI, I primarily collect Rolls Royce and Bentley cars, having also had my share of Aston-Martin, Ferrari, and Lamborghini passions fulfilled in past history. I indulge in a few Muscle Car Classics from the 50's and 60's too... and I now own the most famous and probably desirable 1957 Chevy on the planet.... it's on loan to the Petersen Automotive Museum in Los Angeles because it's a Steve McQueen car, having been ordered new in Van Nuys, California in red with a tan convertible top and fitted with the rare Fuel Injection; it has a total of 28,000 miles on it, and you can look it up (Google it, you'll find it!) - I tell you this not to brag....it's only so you'll know you're dealing with a serious car lover who indulges himself with the finest for his collection, and that includes this beautiful 1967 Jaguar. We won 1st place in our category 10 years ago at the Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance.... in a 1960 Rolls Royce drophead coupe by H.J. Mulliner...so do you think we cut any corners taking care of this one? We live about an hour west of Ft. Worth. I can help you arrange shipping anywhere in the world from here, or I can meet you at DFW with the car and you can have a pleasant drive back home. Or I'll bring it to you... just say the word. +++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ It will sell this week to whomever wishes to own a fine car and is willing to pay my low, reasonable reserve price (please don't ask, just take my word it is reasonable). Be well... and happy bidding, y'all!
