This is a low mileage (23,xxx) GL-1000 with a cafe racer conversion started, but interest was lost due to many other projects. The engine runs, has good compression and is in good mechanical condition, except the carburetors are extremely in need of a rebuild- when gas lines are connected, raw fuel quickly leaks out of the carb seals. However, I hooked a battery to it it, and with a shot of starting fluid, it fires right up. Here is what has been done: *Rear suspension monoshock roughed in and functional. *Brand New front brake lever assembly. *New braided brake lines font and rear. *Rear master cylinder rebuilt. *New starter motor. *New front turn signals, headlight. *Handlebars cut down several inches. *Fresh oil/filter/coolant *Custom 4 into 2 into 1 exhaust with wrap and supertrap baffles. +new rubber gators for the front fork Box of parts included with speedo/tach, signals, etc etc. Suzuki gas tank with relief for a battery to be hidden in it. This bike is probably 200 lbs lighter than when it started life. The engine alone is worth a considerable amount of money. When finished, I would expect it to be very quick and fun. It looks awesome- almost like a german army machine. Would look great olive green. Looks really cool "rat bike' style right now. It would need the carbs rebuilt, and a battery added, a seat added and the gas tank sealed. It has the original ignition key. I paid $750 for the bike, and then added about $300 in parts to it. I am willing to sell it no reserve and see what I get. I think a 1000cc cafe racer would be more fun than all the 350's out there. I will not deliver except pretty local. I will assist in shipping (not paying, but will be helpful in the arrangements, putting it on a pallet if needed, etc. Buy an engine- get the whole bike and title. What a deal.
