Vehicle Detail

What I am offering here is a 1968 Camero. I will give you as much history of this car as I know. I was introduced to the car by an associate at work who found it in a woman’s garage. This was a lady who was well off through a divorce, hooked up with a guy who loved cars and used her resources to support his love for cars. After a few years she grew wise to this and booted him out. The car then sat for five years in storage. When I purchased the car I trailered it home and immediately pulled the engine and took to a local engine shop to see what exactly I had here. They pulled the heads and pan and said they were sure the engine had been blueprinted and balanced to a 383 stroker motor. The cam was way too big for it so they put something a little more street drivable in it for me. I re-installed the engine and installed new engine mounts; body mounts; new front shocks and springs. I also installed a Hotchkis body suspension in order to stiffen the body up a bit. I wrapped the headers in heat cloth; had a new custom made exhaust system installed. I removed the old instrument panel and steering wheel and installed a new instrument cluster and tilt wheel assy from Summit racing. Summit is about 15 miles from my house. This summer I installed a new clutch and pressure plate assy. As you can see from the pictures the car had a complete frame off restoration done to it with all sorts of bling installed. There are no matching numbers and when my son ran the vin he found the car started its life off as a 350 with a three speed on the tree painted green. The wheels are Crager Weldheels which with the tires installed a five year old could lift. In the four years I have been playing with the car I discovered the previous owner did not spare any of his girlfriend’s money when it came to building it. The drive shaft weights in an about 10 pounds, the rear end was powder coated as well as a lot of other components. This car has been a lot of fun for my wife and I these past four years. I was never afraid to drive it and we spent a lot of Friday night’s cruising downtown with the top down. It really turns heads. The dual exhaust has a definite mean sound as it idles and when you press the pedal down and the supercharger kicks in it will get anyone’s attention within a mile. This summer my goal was to have the interior re-done. The vinyl seats get a bit hot and the driver has a small tear in it. I was also going to re-do the interior electrical, floor lights etc as well as some different head and tail lights. The upside to a car like this is you don’t concern yourself with trying to make all the numbers match, you trick it out anyway you want. My kid was always harping on me to put a white accent stripe on it but I like it super clean and would even eliminate the rear spoiler had the guy not drilled into the deck. But all things must pass. I am getting older (58) and bought a big Lake Erie boat and intend to spend the summers up on Kelley’s Island and fish instead of cruising like I was 18 years old again. I had a 1968 Chevelle SS back then. I have also enclosed a copy of the 11/16/2008 appraisal when I first purchased the car. It was pulled out of the barn dry rotted tires and all, dusted off but not started. The appraiser had no idea or information the engine but you can see at that time five years ago the car was valued at $ 19,700.00. With the improvements I have done as well as engine information this will give you an idea as to the current value of the car. Terms of my auctions are as follows. You win the car you send $ 500.00 within 48 hours. I will leave the car on the rack for you to inspect. If you do not like the car I use some of your deposit to pay for the listing and we both move on. I am not crazy about EBay but it is a great advertising tool.
