Vehicle Detail
You are bidding on a 1999 Honda Odyssey with no reserve! The opening bid is our cost for putting the van on eBay. It currently has 220,362 miles on the odometer. The speedometer is slightly optimistic: 27MPH on the speedometer is actually 25MPH and 70MPH on the speedometer is actually 65MPH. There is probably a linear mathematical equation you can use to figure that out but I’m not so good at math (nor do I speed that much) to make a difference. We are the third owners of the van, to our knowledge. Its first two owners were in Michigan, where we purchased it in 2005 (on eBay). It then spent some years in New Mexico and South Carolina before moving up to Ohio last fall. So, it has only had to endure one winter in Ohio. It’s old. 14 years old and starting to show it. The paint is original and in surprisingly good condition for a van that has never been garaged. It starts and runs, drives well and the front and rear A/C still blow cold. But, the check engine light is on so it will NOT pass an emissions test. I have recently taken it to Chicago and back and still drive it to and from work almost every day. The check engine light is on because of a fault in the wiring for the front oxygen sensor heater and a hose broken to the evaporative canister. I have replaced the sensor twice so I know it is not the sensor. Frankly I’m just too lazy to trace the problem down. As far as the canister goes, I know what it does and don’t want to spend the money to fix it. It doesn’t affect drivability and I still get 19/20 MPG in town and 24 to 26 on the highway. The rear brakes make a little noise in the morning (I had them replaced two years ago). It might be surface rust from sitting overnight or brake dust, but again I’m too lazy to look into it. Sometimes the passenger window makes some noise on the way up depending on how long it’s been since I’ve cleaned the tracks. Both of the sliding doors work but have their minor issues from time to time; one needs the handle to be pulled harder than normal and the other, well, works, but takes a little more effort to close. All the doors and liftgate seal and there are no water leaks. The pictures show a missing temperature control knob on the dash but that has been replaced. We have gone without it for so long that we forgot to install the new one before we took the pictures. There are stains on the carpets as you can see in thepictures. The van doesn’t smell bad;it has just been well used. My wife took a steam cleaner to the seats and carpets a week before these pictures were taken but like I said, it’s old. Also, it has been through 3 daughters and a dog on many VERY LONG road trips: thus the high mileage. We are a former military family, and every trip to everywhere was a long one! We replaced the transmission around 190,000 miles and have been trouble free since. Tie rod ends and front stabilizer links were replaced about 50,000 miles ago. I bought two new tires for the front last fall (which are now in the back) and the other two have a couple of years and about 20,000 miles on them. With the installation of the tires I had an alignment performed and the timing belt changed as well. I’m pretty fanatical about keeping receipts for any repairs I have done on my vehicles so you will get a folder of receipts and information of everything we have had done with this one. It has had regular oil changes at 5,000 mile intervals (the most recent about a week ago) and I plan to leave the Kenwood receiver in the dash. It is fully operational. The original stereo, a shop manual (pictured) and a sun shade will come with the van as well. The only things in the pictures that don’t come with the van are as much gas as the gauge says and my New Mexico license plate. It comes pre-scratched and dented for your convenience. One of my favorite things about this van (other than it just keeps running) is that if I get new scratches from some careless bratty child in a parking lot, I’d never know! J Anyway, the dent where the passenger door meets the left front quarter panel was from a neighbor backing into it and the dent on the left front quarter panel near the top was from a deer running into the van. There are other scratches all around the van as you can see in the pictures. There is a small chip in the windshield on the passenger side as well. I’ll not try to hide anything about the van. I’ve been writing this description for weeks and as I think of things I add them to the description. The last thing I want is for you to see the van after agreeing to buy it and be surprised by something I failed to mention. Despite the recall issues the later body styles of Odyssey’s are encountering, this one is emerging unscathed. No owner or passenger of this van has ever smoked. If you have any questions please feel free to contact us. It has been a tremendous vehicle for our family. So why are we getting rid of it? We now live in Lake County Ohio. They have an emissions check requirement and I just don’t want to pay to get it fixed. Also, we have three other vehicles and there really is no reason to have a fourth when our children are too young to drive. (My wife has her own Odyssey!)This van is being sold as is. There is no warranty, actual or implied. The van must be picked up or arrangements for delivery must be made within one week (7 days) of auction completion. You must also make arrangments for registration and insurance. ** Also, there IS a third row of bench seating. When we took photos and originally listed the van, neither my wife nor I happened to notice that we didn't list any pictures of the seating up.. It is stow and go, so it is tucked away in the back floor in the pictures you can see of the rather roomy looking back cargo area. It is in very good condition, complete with all three headrests. Sorry for the photo omission!
