Vehicle Detail

Every now and then in the used car business we come across something unusual and really interesting. This is very rare 1964 (titled as 63) Type III Notchback, it was rolled through a New Mexico auction as a Capital One repo, no keys, covered in dust inside and out and even though no one knew if it even ran the bidding was fierce! Rumor has it that the amount owed to Cap One was in the $17000 range, yes you read that right, $17K. After a few hours installing a new ignition, battery and fuel we fired her up and found out that this car is a classic "sleeper" a wolf in sheep's clothing. There are a lot of things about this car we don't know the specifics on, what we do know is that this car is fast, really fast and really fun to drive. Though it looks great, it is not a show car, the paint is in good shape but not perfect, it was built to drive, it was built for fun. The interior is very nicely done, very clean, very pleasing to the eye. We entered it in a local car show, took first place against 17 other cars in its class. Has a clear Idaho title We are not vintage VW experts and don't mean to sound vague but we have no history on this car, we can see that someone spent tons of money on this car. After talking with some of the Samba guys we believe the type IV engine was built by Fat Performance in Orange County (look them up) Has a 4 speed trans, this too appears to be a high performance aftermarket part. Dual 44 carbs, Gene Berg short throw shifter, a line lock, huge tachometer, oil cooler with thermo control fan, oil filter adapter, BRM 5 spoke wheels, 8" in the rear, 6" in front, H4 headlights and I'm sure there's a bunch more really neat stuff we don't know about or cant "see." Here are a couple videos, one a walk around to look at flaws, the other driving which was a ton of fun as this car really moves down the road. The 0-100 time is impressive and watch how easily this engine over powers the line lock, probably not a car for your teenage son, lol... Leaks a little oil when parked. No heater. Brakes are a little soft. Driver's window crank does not work. Has some scuffs/scratches on the lip of the engine compartment, see photos. Dash has a crack on it, see photos. Body seams could use a little alignment, see video. Has some very minor rust in the usual places. Please read above and examine the pictures closely, I am happy to photograph and email pictures of anything you would like to take a better look at. Feel free to call me with any questions on my cell 602 435 2110. Jim Payment: We are a licensed, bonded New Mexico car dealer, we prefer a wire transfer to keep things simple and secure. Shipping: I have shipped cars all over the world and have the ability to arrange wholesale shipping anywhere in the USA but the cost is entirely yours. I am happy to pick you up at the Farmington NM or Durango CO airport if you choose to fly in and drive this car home. This vehicle is available for inspection in Farmington, NM prior to the auction ending. This VW has been described to the best of my ability. This vehicle is sold as is, where is and with no warranty, expressed, written or implied. Any descriptions or representations are for identification purposes only and are not to be construed as a warranty of any type. It is the responsibility of the buyer to inspect the vehicle and to satisfy themselves as to the condition and value based upon that judgment. On Oct-08-13 at 10:43:32 PDT, seller added the following information: OK, one day to go, with every notchback fanatic out there telling me how badly they want this car, I have lowered the reserve and the buy it now. This is the real deal, no second chance, I will sell this car! By the end of this auction, a very lucky bidder is going to own this awesome little car and then probably start their new hobby collecting speeding tickets from their local PD.
