Vehicle Detail
Please read below carefully and ask questions. I don't want to sell this M38A1 but a recent job change forces me to liquidate some toys/future projects. The previous owner had this Jeep stored in a barn for the past 14 years, it was driven very little. Has 4 near new mud tires on steel wheels, new battery, new muffler, new OD military parking brake etc. Like so many of these rigs at some point it was changed over to 12 volt but still has lots and lots of the hard to find original parts like the seats, fuel tank, split windshield, data plates, steering box, can carrier, tire carrier, etc. Has some little dents, dings, multiple coats of crappy paint but no rust, no "stereo" sized holes cut in the dash, no "hillbilly engineering" other than the 12 volt conversion. The original engine sounds excellent, feels like 25K miles, starts right up, no smoke, no noise, though it could use a tune up as its running on extremely old stinky stale gasoline. Needs transmission work/replacement, tight shift pattern but shifts poorly, like the synchros are out of it/out of oil, either way T90 3 speeds are a dime a dozen and easy to rebuild. Brakes are fair, is an excellent restoration candidate or just build an OD green deep woods driver/hunting buggy and enjoy the back country. This is one of those rigs where the more and closer I look at it the more I like what I see, it grows on you. I can see where someone has done some good work here and there in the past but the most recent owner was completely clueless as to what he had and had no mechanical ability at all. I have a clear Colorado title, it is a blue tag special vehicle title and somewhere in the past someone pulled off the state issued ID plate. You can always go that route again or use a title service back east to make the serial number the VIN as it should be. I will include a bunch of spare parts, owners manuals, extra military gas can, military water can and what ever else I can find behind the shop. I am happy to provide a notarized bill of sale from the previous owner and myself if that helps. Email me with questions, I will be as candid as possible, I am happy to send more pictures, have owned quite a few of these but am in no way an expert. I have shipped trucks all over the US and have the ability to help you arrange shipping in the lower 48 states at your expense. If you choose to come get this Jeep bring a trailer as it is not something you would want to try and drive cross country. Jim cell 602 435 2110
