Vehicle Detail
We purchased this 1950 Fleetline DeLuxe Sedan at an auction fifteen years ago with the intention of restoring it to original condition. It's been sitting in a locked storage garage since. We're selling the garage and need to clear it out. The car was last driven regularly in 1978. The elderly woman who owned it slid on a patch of ice and so had her nephew park it in her barn where it sat until we bought it from her estate. We drove it around town a few times until the engine quit running. It sat with the tail sticking out of the barn stall, so the tail pan is corroded and will need to be replaced (there is a replacement tail pan currently listed on eBay, item# 220513856478). Some sheet metal work will also have to be done in the trunk. I haven't tried to repair the engine; I had planned to replace the 216 with the more reliable 235 cid engine that was available with the powerglide transmission option in 1950 and became standard in later models, or else put a small-block V-8 in it, so I haven't bothered trying to rebuild the one that's in it now. When I listed this previously, a couple of serious buyers asked for better photos of the tail and the side that hadn't been cleaned. Since the high bidder the first time around failed to pay for the car, I had it towed out of the garage so that I could wash it and take new photos for the re-listing. The woman hit against a guardrail when she slid on the ice, and there's a dent along the right rear quarter panel that I was not even aware of when I listed it the first time. Also, something must have been stored on the top of the car since the sheet metal is slightly creased; I remember a body guy telling me that this probably would pop back out with a little heat after the headliner is removed. Practically all of the stainless trim pieces on the exterior and interior are in excellent condition and will polish well. All of the interior door handles and window cranks are in good condition. The interior cloth will need to be replaced as you would expect, and the horn ring is broken. There is one broken window on the rear passenger door; all other glass is in good condition with the exception of a small rock ding at the top of the driver's windshield panel. Both fender skirts are in very good condition with no dents .All four doors shut properly (there are no "lazy" hinges). The odometer shows 95,534 miles and is probably accurate; I can't guarantee the mileage since we bought it used, but I doubt that the odometer has ever rolled over. The only non-original part I have found on the entire car is the air cleaner on the carburetor. I believe that we are the second titled owners of the car. We have the auction receipt, clear title, and even the original owner's obit along with the car's paperwork. The entire car is in the condition you would expect after sitting up for so long, and the listing price is very reasonable. The car is being sold "as is" and must be picked up at our warehouse in Mayfield, Kentucky (20 miles south of Paducah on US Hwy 45). E-mail me for any additional photos or vehicle descriptions. I have a 100% satisfaction rating and I will provide any information requested to assure potential bidders that this car is being represented accurately. Serious bidders only, PLEASE! I will cancel any offers from bidders with a poor or even a 0% eBay rating. However, if you are new to eBay or you have just opened an eBay account to purchase a car, send me a message and we will discuss your participation in the auction. It took a lot of effort to have the final value fee and our donation to a local organization refunded by eBay when the bidding closed the first time around. A $500 deposit will be required within 48 hours of the auction's close and final payment must be received within seven days, or when the car is picked up, whichever occurs first. If you don't have a PayPal account, the $500 deposit must be made by certified bank check and must be sent overnight express the day after the auction closes. If the car is paid in full, it can sit in our warehouse for up to 30 days while you arrange pickup. We'll work with you any way we can regarding special circumstances for the payment and pickup of the vehicle. Thanks for looking!
