Vehicle Detail
What we are offering is a 1978 Corvette Stingray with 17,240 actual miles on it. The history of the car is it sustained an engine fire and was issued a salvage title. The previous owner spent a buckload of money on this car with all new front end components; all original GM parts were used. New brake disks and calipers; new suspension, new brake lines; the list goes on. He purchased a wiring harness from a corvette salvage yard as well as a replacement front clip. After a few years and many hours on the car he discovered the motor was seized up and gave up on the project and I purchased the car. I pulled the motor and discovered that the cylinders had gotten water in them more than likely from the fire department and the pistons had rusted to the cylinder wall. I am 8 miles from Summit racing so I bought a brand new factory 350 long block and installed it. It has 40 more horse power than the factory original. I have a rack in my barn and removed the spare tire (original) power washed the underside and painted PR1500. The underside is solid with no rust or holes. When installing the engine I put on new headers with heat wrap and was going to purchase a dual exhaust system for it and install it. Time has been an issue and I also need the space in my barn so I offering this Father Son project on Ebay. The pictures of the front clip are actually better than what it appears in real life and it needs work but everything is there. I have kept all the old components except for the exhaust and there are numerous duplicate parts as well. Aside from the alternator I believe everything is there. The previous owner bought an original GM Build Book which is used by the manufacturer when they assemble the car so it is a step by step process in finishing the project. The car also has an extra set of T tops which are tinted and the red ones I installed to keep the dust out of the car looked as though they had never been used. Car also has an extra hood that looks like a new aftermarket. I also kept the old motor in case someone wanted to take it back original but I was going to put a Summit four barrel and manifold on it as well as Summit ignition. Good to have Summit nearby. The old Rochester set up is way too complicated and cumbersome. With the added engine horse power, latest ignition system and carburetion; headers and dual exhaust the car will perform much better than original. Also the front window was broken when we transported the car (bummer) Tires are junk and will need replaced, the battery is new and the radiator questionable but the AC condenser the previous owner purchased from the salvage yard and it looks in good condition. He also bought a salvage ac pump; evaporator assembly which I have installed.
