I bought this FJ40 to do a high level restore, but my work load is stacked for the next 14-18 months so I need to let it go. This truck is original paint, 99% rust free, mostly original. The motor spun a rod bearing 25 or so years ago and was parked in a barn and forgot about. This truck will need an engine rebuild for sure, does not run or drive. FJ40’s are getting incredibly hard to find in original type condition without serious rust issues. If you are looking for a clean honest rig to start with, here it is. 1973 model year are emissions exempt in most states including California. MECHANICAL The original F motor spun a bearing 25 or so years ago. The oil pan was removed, caps and bearings taken out. I bolted the pan back on, the main and rod caps are in a box included. I recommend the new owner buy a used 2F motor from 74-early 80’s and put it in. 2F motors have better oiling and horse power, direct replacement for the F. This FJ40 has a 4 speed transmission/case/drive lines/yokes. BODY The panels all appear to be original to this truck. Very minor rust in the rear sill, frame is straight and excellent. No lift, original wheels, jump seats, interior, even has the original radio (very hard to find). These days, I can only find original paint/body FJ40’s if they have been parked in a barn for 20 plus years. You will save thousands in body repair with original paint as you can see what you are working with, and at 99% rust free you are ahead of the game. I can send you a link to 56 pictures of this vehicle. I took the pictures right after I washed the dirt off, so that is what the wetness is. My Opinion This is a perfect FJ40 to restore; the stock pieces are there, no searching all over eBay and classifieds to make it whole. Please do not drop a V8 etc. in this one, it deserves a stock build, and will be worth a considerable amount of money in stock form. The bottom end of the motor is ruined ( I assume, may be rebuildable, cant tell unless the motor is removed), not a selling point, but near impossible to find an original paint non-rusty FJ40 that has been on the road since 73. This one tucked away since the late 80’s. A motor is easy to find, hundreds of hours in rust repair are expensive. I price all my cruisers to sell, they typically sell in the 1st auction, no games with stooopid reserves which are usually what is seen on eBay.I hold a clear clean WA state title in my name in hand for this vehicle. I require a $1000 non-refundable deposit via PayPal immediately after the auction ends (No Exceptions) The rest in cashier’s check, cash in person, bank to bank wire within 5 days closed auction. I can take the remainder via PayPal if you want to use a credit card, but you must pay the additional 3%. Sold-as-is, project vehicle blah blah blah.
