Vehicle Detail
I’m offering my 2001 Dodge Ram 1500 extended cab, wheelchair-accessible pickup (not a handicap van) for sale. I purchased the truck from MC Mobility Systems of Columbus, OH in 2004 when it had 8,400 miles. I was told that it was titled to Ralph Braun of Braun Mobility and that it had served as a show vehicle for the type of conversion. It now has 100,710 miles and has served me very well. The 5.9 liter engine runs perfectly, burns no detectable amount of its six quarts of oil and has had an oil and filter change every 3,000 miles. It has been dutifully maintained including all fluids replacements, wheel bearings, etc. It has performed so flawlessly that the original spark plug wires were only replaced in a scheduled tune-up this spring. My wife and I work from home so it has not been a commuting vehicle. It has been to Florida for a month during several winters and used for out-of-state vacations and concert attendance. It has a trailer hitch used to occasionally tow an eighteen-foot Haulmark car trailer and my 1953 MG-TF to local car shows. I will include a passenger seat, on a carpeted floor above caster wheels, that locks into place, to effectively undo the wheelchair accommodation, restoring the matching carpet and original heated and powered leather seat. That seating unit and a center console installed by the dealer (also included) were never used. They’ve remained wrapped in plastic and stored in my house. The Braun under-vehicle lift is fitted below the extended cab and is really only visible from the passenger side with a hardened stainless steel face (when it is closed) that matches the metallic silver paint very well. The passenger doors were seamlessly extended when the floor was lowered. The conversion seems to have raised the pickup body, slightly, to partially accommodate the extra inches that the stowed- away, electronic lift adds below; however, ground clearance, including sugar beets or road debris, is never an issue (which is refreshing compared to speed bumps and potholes knocking the rocker panel extensions or spoilers off converted minivans). Seeing over vehicles ahead of you is more enjoyable also. The lift has a hard-wired remote that hangs on the door and a wireless remote. There is a separate wireless remote for a power door locking system that I had the tailgate added to when I added the powered rolling retractable hard bed cover. The truck has powered steering, brakes, and windows, heated leather seat(s), a towing package, a factory bed liner, automatic transmission, air conditioning, etc. It rides smoothly and the Michelin tires at 38 lbs/psi that I always use help. The lift’s hydraulic system and emergency release and manual cranking features are housed in a diamond-plate aluminum lock box in the pickup bed. My electric wheelchair is 26 inches wide and has plenty of room to navigate into position for the tie-down straps (included). An extra-wide chair might prevent accommodation. The carpeting on the left-side of the drive-train cover is torn from years of wheelchair footrest and hub cap scrubbing (not unlike door frames in my home – self-inflicted). There is a paint scuff showing the black primer or e-coat on the bumper on the driver’s side. I’ll include an unopened match paint quart that I purchased, but never used. The truck bed shows recent grocery spills but is unblemished from only light duty. I can take it to the local car wash then supply another photo if a concern. The metal up front in the bed photo is an oxygen-bottle cart. Everything works as intended. The most recent repair was to replace an emission charcoal-canister hose. The carpet to headliner height where a wheelchair sits is 54.5 inches. My wife will try to accommodate further photo or measurement requests and the vehicle is available for inspection.Ask me (seller) questions, etc., freely. Shipping is up to the buyer but we’ll be available to assist the carrier. Ships after full payment or agreed escrow. Free delivery within Michigan is possible.
