Vehicle Detail
The good: This is a very fast and fun car. Comfortable and drives nicely. I replaced the tiptronic automatic transmission at about 210K miles and it functions perfectly. The trans was bought here on ebay from Japan with 50K miles or less. I'm going to try and get archive record of purchase here on ebay for anyone who wants to see proof of new trans (ebay only has 2 year purchase archives). There are no oil leaks. New Goodyear Eagle tires with locking lugs on wheels. I drove this car with the new transmission from Bay Area to San Antonio Texas and back without any trouble, and had the cruise set at 90 MPH for hours at a time so the car runs strong. All the power windows/locks/sunroof function properly but the door handle on passenger side doesnt open from inside the car. Has nice and loud Alpine stereo. The bad: The engine burns oil as I probably add 3 to 4 quarts between oil changes (5000 miles) but this generation Prelude is known for this but this high mile car more so. There is no obvious burnt oil coming from exhaust and no serious leaks on engine so I often wonder where all the oil goes. The OBD2 is throwing only one code (P0113, IAT sensor) but this is enough to fail smog in California. This fault effects the car in no way at all. The tags and smog are good til April but Cali buyers will need to fix this code to pass smog in April. The AC will freeze you out but just recently started making a small noise so I assume the compressor is original and is going bad, but for now the AC does work well. The passenger side mirror is broken/missing. The yellow top Optima battery works but can't be left for more than 5 days or so without starting. One of the rims has bad scratches on it but the other three look great. The hood has a a dent that is about one foot in diameter. Basicly, this is a great running and dependable car. Bid confidently on this one. Look at my feedback, I've always been honest in all my dealings. If I presently knew of a serious problems with this car, I would present it as such but that is not the case. Anyone planning to fly into San Jose and drive it across the states, you shouldnt have any problems at all, just keep up with the oil level is all. I'm looking to get positive feedback so I'm presenting this car as is and stating any and all faults but just know the car is over 16 years old so its not pristine. I'm selling the car as I had to choose one three vehicles to sell as I'm planning to move from California. I'm keeping my 94 Civic due to great gas mileage and my 81 VW Camper Van for obvious reasons. There is a low reserve on this vehicle and I'm just trying to get some money for my move. Please, BID ACCORDINGLY with the faults listed here. Feel free to ask any questions, my number is 510-600-4301 and can recieve text messages.
