Vehicle Detail
Hi, You are looking at a very solid 1980 toyota short bed 4x4 pickup. This truck was driven from San Diego to Michigan this spring and was put into storage until the sumer when it could be driven during nice dry days. It's a constant conversation piece as all the Michigan trucks died a slow rusty death years ago. I thought of keeping her but the new wife says it's gotta go. ; ( It starts and runs really well and since it's from Cali the air works like a champ and the motor is up to smog standards. This truck isn't a $10,000 truck, nor it is it a $4,000 truck, it's somewhere in between. The body is super solid and the only areas I would put energy into would be the bottoms of the doors, a small area on the passenger side A pillar, and the drivers side bed front pinch flange. I have a new windscreen gasket to go with the truck and the oil has been changed along with the front axle seals, timing chain/gears, water pump, oil pump, front brake pads and radiator. When I picked the truck up, it had the original cap that had been on it since 1980, the cap was lined with carpet and also the bed as well. (The cap comes with the truck.) The original spare has never seen light and is in perfect shape (see pictures). I also replaced the original carpet as it had a few stains and didn't live up to the rest of the vehicle. The bed is in amazing shape...... My wife (newlywed) and I just took it up north for our honeymoon and we got stopped everywhere as people were wanting to HUG the little thing. It will do a solid 75mph with the air on and it will no doubt retain it's value if cared for. I would love to keep it until my kids (if we have any) started driving and roll off to high school........if you are looking to cut this up for rock crawling, look elsewhere, this truck would be a good candidate for a 9 out of 10 restoration.... Note: it had dual tanks that work via a switch on the steering column and it also has cruise control that is non functioning due to a broken cable. There is also an alarm system that is activated via a key on the driver side front quarter panel (never tried it). I will install the arm rests and speakers before purchase. The speakers will need a stereo system, as there is none. Original door panels will come with the truck. Thanks for looking! On Jul-22-13 at 11:44:13 PDT, seller added the following information: Note: In the listing I stated that it had dual tanks, well it HAS dual tanks and they are both functioning. The fuel guage is a little sluggish when you switch but eventually it registers.... Also, if anyone is flying in from out of state I'm 15min from the Grand Rapids airport and can pick you up free of charge. There have been a lot of questions about the paint, yes it is original with just a little thin spot on the passenger quarter and on the roof. This is a 33yr old truck and is not perfect but the body is straight with the usual small blemishes, nicks and such....
