Vehicle Detail
For sale is a Gunmetal blue 1986 Chrysler Laser XT hatchback sport coupe. XT was the top performance luxury model, above the XE. Some features are: · power windows & driver’s seat · Driver’s seat has air bulb adjustments for lumbar & thigh support · air conditioning that still works · AM/FM stereo cassette radio · Reclining front bucket seats · Rear seats fold down for more cargo room · Cruise control · Power brakes & steering with a tilt wheel · Rear louvers for the back window · T-bar removable roof panels with storage bags · 8-spoke 15” aluminum wheels with caps (these are sometimes missing) · Louvered hood · A standard rear spoiler · 2.2-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder multipoint EFI engine · 5-speed manual transmission, with 5th gear being overdrive · Mark Cross Corinthian leather interior in black · Rear window defroster (includes heated exterior mirrors) with a fixed-interval intermittent wiper/washer · Factory air horns · A unique wrap-around front fascia, with a larger, more squared off front air dam & lower bodyside sill spoilers · Electromechanical, not electronic, instrument cluster · Performance handling suspension The Chrysler Laser was only made for 3 years: 1984, 85 & 86. The XT was introduced in the spring of 1985. Only 3452 XTs were made in 1985 & 6989 were made for 1986. Very few are left today. Like many 27 year-old cars, some problems occur over time: the driver’s seat no longer moves fore or aft, the driver’s floorwell has a patch panel, the spare tire well has a hole in the bottom, the body has a small rust hole behind the left-rear tire (see photo), the tachometer & Electronic Navigator quit working, and the electric door locks are iffy. The brakes usually work better with use, but now could probably use a new booster. It also needs a new paint job, probably new tires (because of their age), & a driver’s seat cover. However, the car has a new: brake master cylinder, fuel pressure regulator, & a throttle position sensor. It also comes with some spare parts, including the four aluminum wheels (see photo), a replacement tach, a new gas cap, a small can of touch-up paint, etc. This Laser runs and drives well. The engine in this car runs good and doesn’t burn oil. If you don’t kick the turbo in too often, you can get great fuel economy. I’ve always liked the styling and people continue to comment favorably about it. You can choose to either fix a few things & enjoy it as is, or restore it. Either way, it’s a unique car and people will notice it.
