Vehicle Detail
for sell is a 1966 Chevelle 300 Deluxe 4-Door Sedan with a 230 Straight Six Engine that has only 52,964 Original Miles. This car was originally purchased by my great uncle back in July of 1966. The car was pass down to my father and then to me. My plan was to restore the car to, as much as possible, its original condition. This was my high school plan, but after going to college the plan got put on hold and never completed. The car ran well in 2004, has not been started since then due to the unknown condition of the gas in the tank and no battery. The car was moved from TN to NC in mid-2004, the movers were not gentle with the car and broke the lock nub of the back driver side door. They also broke a piece of the side trim. These pieces were never replaced. The car has been stored outside but for the most part, covered to keep the rain off. The car has rust holes near the wheel wells; both back and drive front side. The holes were filled with bondo, the front hole was patched back in the 70s. The car has a lot of surface rust which I tried to stop by spraying anti-rust flat black paint. This has left the car with 'spots' all over. The paint is cracking and needs to be redone. The rear driver side quarter panel has a small dent in it, tried to take a picture of it. The rear passenger side bumper is bent on the edge, see picture. The windshield has a leak somewhere, not sure if the gasket is bad or there is a hole in the metal around the windshield. when I drove the car in high school, the passenger side would leak if it was raining out. All the glass in the car is crack/chip free. The windshield does have a mark from running the wipers too much with bad blades. The back windshield has some old window decals, 1* from the jr. high my father went to and the other from the original dealer: Bob Hook of Louisville, KY. The front windshield has taxes paid stickers. The driver side door jam has the service records of the car. Its hard to read most of them but can make see a few dates. This is the only form of records that the car has. The interior is in good shape. The front bench was removed over 10 years ago for some newer leather bucket seats. The seats were removed from a Pontiac, the driver seat is powered, and hooked up and works well. The back bench is original and has no cuts or tears. All the seat belts are still installed. The car did not come with a radio, the cover plate for the radio is not present. The car also did not have the factory clock installed. At some point, early in the cars life, the horn switch on the steering wheel stopped working, my great uncle, the original owner of the car, installed a new switch near the ashtray. The switch almost looks OEM and I did not realize it wasn't until much later. The Engine is a 230 Straight Six Engine that produced 140hp and 210 lb-ft of torque, when new. The original orange paint has worn off over the years but still possible to make out 230 on the side of the engine block. The engine is original but some of the parts have been replaced back in the early 2000s. The starter, master cylinder, water pump, alternator. . . . I believe that was all the major stuff that was replaced. The original carburetor is still installed. This is a great car that has been in the family for over 40 years, it just needs a new, good home that can revitalize it to its former glory. If you have any questions I will do my best to answer them. This car is for local pick-up, a trailer will be needed to move the car. I will not transport the car. This car is sold AS IS and has not been turned on since mid-2004. It did run last time I tried to start it but at the moment I do not know the condition of the gas in the tank nor do I have a battery that will fit it. Good Luck and Thank you On Jul-06-13 at 18:17:45 PDT, seller added the following information: The car does include both the keys, the truck and ignition key On Jul-06-13 at 19:10:11 PDT, seller added the following information: Sorry for the miss type. The keys that are included are for the Trunk and the Ignition On Jul-08-13 at 19:30:26 PDT, seller added the following information: All four tires were bought new in 2003 and have less then 1000 miles on them. The tires have no holes. They are even white wall ties to match the era. The spear tire came with the car new and has never been used to my knowledge. The spear is also a snow tire On Jul-10-13 at 16:17:30 PDT, seller added the following information: I took some pictures of the under side of the car. message me and I will send them to you. thanks for looking.
