Vehicle Detail
1969 Ford Mustang Coupe with s-code 390 engine. This is a true sleeper muscle car. The car currently runs and drives. There were only about 858 coupes built with the 390 engine in 1969 from what I could find making this quite a rare car. This car had an original destination from the factory to Jacksonville, FL. The original owner was a woman who actually wanted a 428 coupe, but didn't want a hood scoop and Ford didn't offer that option. It had front brake conversion to disc and was repainted in the 1980's. For whatever reason it sat in a garage for years in Florida. We purchased the car in 1998 and drove it to Pittsburgh, PA, from Tampa Bay, FL. Factory AC was converted to 134A before we bought it, but it was not working. Engine was rebuilt in 1999 with 91,570 miles on the original engine. Bored 0.030" over, balanced, hardened seals, new cam, and 750cfm Holley 4bb carb. Transmission is original as far as I know. The car obviously also needs a good paint job and has a few places of rust (as seen in the photos). Have recently sprayed primer on exposed metal to prevent rust in those places.
