Toyota Land Cruiser restoration shop offering this 1972 FJ40. I bought this for a customer to restore to his spec, but he got anxious and bought a high end completed Cruiser from me instead, so I've decided to sell as I need to sell a couple of them to help finance my two mint Cruisers that are almost completed going to the BJ auction in Reno this Aug. I bought this 72 a couple months ago in the rural high desert of Idaho. This was a barn find. I bought it from the original owner's family. This truck was parked in the 80's with believed 67,xxx original miles when the original owner died. The family responded to my wanted add, I had to drag it on 4 flats nearly 5 miles through the sage brush to get it to my trailer. (pic below shows). This truck does not run right now, there was a weak attempt to get it running by the PO a few months ago. The carburetor was removed and is in the front seat, that is where the attempt ended. I will put on 4 tires and wheels that hold air for transport. Finding any stock type Cruiser for restoration is hard at this point, hence the reason I drove 450 miles to get this one. If you are looking for a stock rig to restore to original spec, this is a perfect candidate. MECHANICAL The original inline 6 F motor turns over fine. 1972 came with a floor shifter 3 speed, floor shifted transfer case, and this one has a complete original Toyota PTO winch. This truck was not messed with too much, it retains most of it's stock components. I broke a shock mount (where the tab mounts to the axle) dragging it out, I will weld that back together before it ships out. BODY The body is in good shape speaking FJ40. Rust is always the major issue with these vehicles. There is a little rust in the rockers and the rear sill lip. The floors are good, overall in good shape. The body panels all look to be original, no signs of any accident. The frame looks great, the hard top looks great, the doors look great. There is no windshield, I took it out during transport as it was falling out. I suggest the new owner restore this vehicle to OE spec. Original is the best investment, and this one has most of the components so you wont have to spend the money buying parts. Dropping in a V8 and all that on this one would not be money well spent, easy to find a modified FJ40 to start with if that's your plan. I hold a clean clear WA state title in my name for this vehicle. I require a non-refundable $1000 deposit immediately after auction conclusion, the rest within 5 days via cashiers check, bank to bank wire, or cash in person. This is a project vehicle, it is sold as-is. I will deliver within 300 miles of West Richland WA for $1.75 a loaded mile. I can load this on your trailer here as well. I have a shipping broker who can arrange interstate shipping. This truck is a non-op so shipping costs $150 or so more. Truck must be paid for in full before it leaves my property. I welcome you or 3rd party inspection during the auction. Please only contact if serious, tire kickers wanting a tour of all my Cruisers and shop are not appreciated.
