Vehicle Detail

Up for auction a 1971 mach1 mustang. This is a real mach 1 that was restored to show room condition in early 90s. From what I can tell it was never driven much due to the lack of stone chips on the front end. Its motor siezed at some point and had sit for many years before I puchased it. The body has only 2 door dings, it is the straightest car I have ever owned. The paint is of high drivers quality with scatches. chips, cracks and blemishes. I have only hand buffed and waxed. Probably would look amazing if machine buffed. There is very little body fiil. The bottom of the doors on the inside have some small rust holes starting and the door post has a couple dime size rust holes but other than that it is rust free. The interior is in excellent condition for a driver the seats are plyable and not armoraled, you could sit in it with a Gucci siut with no worries. This is how I bought it. But I still had that siezed engine to deal with. And fate have it, I found a 1972 mach1 that had the exact same engine and drive train. Ironically both were factory silver and ended up in my garage red and were purchased 20 mi from each other. The body and frame on the 72 was completely rusted through but had an engine that purred. The engine and trans were swaped and the following was performed to the engine: Gas tank removed and reconditioned, partial new fuel lines and filter, new fuel sending unit, new rebuilt 2 barrel carburator, new lifters, new fuel pump, new water pump, new battery, all fluids changed except rear end, and new duel exshaust. The mechanic said it apeared to be a fresh engine with about 40,000mi on it give or take. It starts right up and purrs like a kitten but more importantly does what a 351 cleaveland should do "fly". The brakes and tires are a different story, the tires are rotted with flat spots from sitting and the brakes have been inspected shoes and drums are good in the rear the rotors are good but need to be cut and the shoes are paper thin. After inspection of the floor pans and seat platforms is was evident they had to be replaced. Unbelievable, most of the pans and platfoms were still good in the 72 along with some sheet metal from the body became the floor in the 71 welded in by a profesional. The rocker panels were in excellent shape along with the frame and suspention componets. The dash was removed when the floor was being done and the cowl was repaired at the typical spot but still leaks. the heater core was also replaced from the 72 but it does not work either. The engine compartment is clean and rust free with the exception of a couple of tiny holes in the underside of the hood. The trunk has a patch under the tire and has some minor rust. All the lights work properly even the plate light. Gauges all work except clock. Horn works but needs new button. Has a/c but I have not had it hooked up. The headliner is nice but the stitching is staring to let go. Over all a high end driver. This car looks like a show car but is a driver. It is sold AS IS WHERE IS. Good luck bidding. Note the location of the car is AZ about 7hrs out of downtown L.A.
