Vehicle Detail

This is a real 1967 RS/SS 396 Camaro, not a stamped Year One make-believe. The fourth line on the trim plate “3DL”, the “L” stands for Rally Sport equipped. The fifth line on the trim plate “4N,” the “N” stands for L35 325hp 396 which is prefaced by “SS, “which I believe they only installed in SS’s. I have owned this car for the past ten years. I bought the car as a completed car from a person who had owned it for only two years and only drove it a handful of times going through a divorce and had to sell. He had bought the car from the person who built and completed the car and who owned an Autobody shop and had built the car for himself but once completing the Camaro he was faced with having to move his business and was forced to sell the car. I’m selling the car not because I want to either, this is a really nice and fun to cruise in big block Camaro that gets awards, and thumbs up everywhere. If you don’t like attention then look somewhere else.As mentioned above I bought this car done. However, it needed personalization. I have photos of the car when I bought it and I didn’t like the stance, the big block 396 was running to smooth, and there were some cosmetic things that needed to be replaced or fixed. It started with pulling the motor in 2004 and having Snay’s Automotive rebuild it. For those familiar with the central MA area, Tommy Snay (owner) is the best around. Tommy has been building motors for close to fifty years including all types, even marine, and he specializes in racing. I’m not listing all that went into the rebuild (paperwork included,) but the deeper he got into dismantling the block, the worse it got. This was NOT a matching numbers Camaro from the beginning so I ended up replacing the block with a 1968 396 casting #3916323. The block was bored .060 over and a complete rebuild including balancing was completed giving the motor a 10 to 1 compression as well. The car was originally a 325hp big block. I asked Tommy to make a 375hp motor. All parts and components to accomplish this were added including a Comp Cams cam and lifter kit #:99089-1, it has a nice idle now like a big block should sound in a car like this. . Since the rebuild in 2004, I have only put 2600 miles on this car, it doesn’t get used, with that being said, I do turn the car over regularly to make sure things don’t set and sit in the same spot for an extended period of time. With the motor out the ENTIRE front end suspension was replaced with mostly stock components. All the front disc brake components were replaced. The ones on the car really didn’t need it when I bought it, but because the car sat a lot, they had rusted up and I wanted it to look nice and neat and replaced everything. This was done in 2004 as wellThe rear suspension on this vehicle was in need of replacement. It was sagging in the rear. The driver’s side single leaf spring was actually bending in the opposite direction, downward. I replaced the rear springs with a multi-leaf spring set up including the shocks. The 12 bolt rear-end was not matching numbers to this car either. I replaced the 3.55 gears (still have them) with 4.10 posi gearing, what a difference. All the rear brake components were replaced as well. The car sits on 15x6 real GM rally wheels in the rear and 15x4 real GM rally wheels up front. The transmission is a T10 Borg Warner 4 spd which came in the car. The only thing I have done to the transmission was change the oil, there are no issues to date with the transmission. The clutch and all related parts came with the car, again no issues. The dual exhaust was replaced on the car in 2005ish with a 2.5 inch galvanized system including flowmaster The interior, the autobody owner had painted all the metal (dash, door rails, etc..) the color of the car. I didn’t like this, so I had a body shop paint it the correct black to match the rest of the interior. I had all the seats recovered only because the back white sections of the seats were almost yellow and the front seats were in need of new padding. I replaced the rug as well. All done in 2005. I installed a non factory radio/cd player in the glove box with and Alpine amp in the trunk. ALL the glass was replaced with factory tinted glass. There were some stainless trim pieces which needed to be fixed and repolished, this was done as well. Now, what’s wrong with the car. Everything works except, windshield washer, factory radio, clock works but cannot set time, driver’s side headlight door has to be pushed to open but closes on its own, the rear tires as you can see are oversized (rear are actually SUV tires) and when you hit larger bumps (not too often when you’re paying attention) they rub. When I was looking at the car to buy, I noticed that the passenger side rear quarter and rear panel had been replaced. The person I bought it from knew very little about the vehicle. I bought the vehicle and later spoke with the autobody guy who had built the vehicle. He advised me that the car had sustained a “light” hit in the rear on the passenger side which caused these two panels to get damaged and in need of replacement, which he did. I believe I have covered everything thing. The pictures do some justice for this vehicle, but seeing it, hearing it, and driving it, I believe will sell this car. I ask that you don’t waste my time if you’re not serious, and I won’t waste yours. I have a clear MA title for this vehicle and I’m selling this as is. I suggest that you inspect this vehicle before purchasing it as you should for a significant item like this. Buyer has to come to vehicle for inspection. Again, this car is being sold as is, seller is not responsible for vehicle’s condition once sold. This is almost a fifty year old vehicle. Not all parts are that old, but remember this is not a new vehicle or used vehicle with a warranty. Things do go wrong with these vehicles These cars in this condition are getting rarer and rarer by the day, don’t miss out if you really want a really nice REAL DEAL 1967 RS/SS 396 4spd Camaro. If you don’t like certain things about this car, trust me, buy it and personalize to your standard, that’s what I did.Seller is posting this vehicle on other sites to sell and reserves the right to end this auction at any time if this car gets sold elsewhere. Seller also request that bidders only bid if serious about this vehicle, all others that effect the sale of this vehicle will be reported as negative feedback.
