Vehicle Detail
1970 Mach-1 351 Cleveland with Shaker Hood & Hurst Shifted 4-Speed This is a Matching Numbers Car originally from California and is Rust Free. As is supported by it's Marti Report this car was built in Dearborn and shipped to George Gaudin Ford Sales in Buena Park CA on 4/07/1970 and sold there 9 days later. It is very well equipped especially for the day and time. Items of note include the 351 Cleveland 4-V engine backed up by the Wide Ratio 4-Speed tranny and 9" rear end. Other original equipment includes Shaker Hood Scoop, Sport Slats, Sport Deck Rear Seat (fold down),Quick Ration Power Steering, Power Disc Brakes, Factory Air Conditioner - Selectaire, AM/FM Stereo Radio, Tinted Glass-Complete, and Tachometer. I bought this car from a man in Massachusetts, who purchased it from a gentleman in South Carolina who had brought the car to the east coast from California, as I understand it the car has been on the east coast about 4 years now. This car is what a lot of people refer to as a "survivor" in that it has never been totally disassembled and restored, but has been selectively restored/maintained. Since I have owned it I have almost totally rebuilt from a mechanical stand point. I have built several Street Rods over the years and in the last few years my interest has shifted to Muscle Cars. I truly enjoy building / rebuilding and driving older cars especially the mechanical side of it. As for the rebuild of this car in the last 3 years I have reworked this car from bumper to bumper. The front suspension has been totally rebuilt a-frames, tie rods, springs, shocks, power steering pump, hoses, and related bushings. The brake system has been totally redone including master cyl, new stainless steel brake lines (complete), hoses, calipers, pads, wheel cylinders and of course all new wheel bearings and seals both front and rear. The rear suspension has been redone with new bushings, shocks and springs (Grabb-A-Track springs) to lower the rear of the car and reduce wheel hop. I replaced the original open 3.00 rear gear with a new 3.50 traction-lock diff. (I also have the original pumpkin for the new owner to take). I totally rebuilt (2900 miles on it) and runs very strong on premium pump gas. I have receipts for almost all of the parts and machine shop work I used during the rebuild. The engine rebuild includes .030 overbore and the crank is 10 / 10. The engine was Line Bored, Decked and Balanced, it is running flat top pistons and the way the heads checked out it is about 11:1 compression. The cam is Comp Cams 270H with .519 lift, 224 duration @ 050, fuel is delivered by a 750cfm Holley Double Pumper thru an Edelbrock Performer Intake. The ignition is handled by Mallory and exhaust by Ceramic Coated - Hooker Comp Headers, to 2.5" exhaust pipes with electronic 'cut-outs' and Flowmaster 3-Chamber Delta Flows with 2.5" tail pipes to the original 70-style stainless tips. I totally replaced every piece of the A/C from the firewall out and it blows COLD on R-134 and the car runs cool even on hot muggy NC summer days. I would also like to mention that I have the original Rim Blow Steering Wheel to go with the car as well as the original radiator, gas tank and exhaust manifolds. If you have any questions about this car, please do not hesitate to contact me and ask as I have nothing to hide.
