Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my 1973 Suzuki GT750. About ten years ago I rescued this bike from under the mud in a barn. I did a restoration keeping the original look in mind, but focused on having a reliable daily rider. That being said, it is not a trailer queen, nor 100% original. All bodywork has been repainted and many parts replaced as the original chrome was pretty well shot. I have tried to keep those hard to find items such as the exhaust tips and "S" mirrors. The seat has been recovered, comes with the rear grab bar as shown, as well as a luggage rack with with storage trunk. The original 73 motor needed a crank seal rebuild. I pulled the motor and replaced it with a donor motor from a 75 so that i could ride while rebuilding the original motor. The new motor ran so much stronger that I never re-installed the 73 motor. I do have a complete motor with 73 jugs and a brand new crank I will include in this auction. I have personally put thousands of miles on this bike, working out the bugs after the restoration. This is a smooth running GT and gets attention everywhere I go. I have 5 of the Suzuki GT series and have decided its time to clear some out. The bike itself has 36737 miles on it. It runs strong and has no known issues. I last rode this bike in the fall of 2010. After a trip through the Tail of the Dragon in Tennessee I brought the bike home and drained the gas tank before being parked. It ran great and had plenty of power to pull through the hills. Crank seals were still fine as there was no excessive smoking. I have not tried starting the bike since. UPDATED 6/15- FIRED THE BIKE UP TODAY AND GOT VIDEO. WENT FOR A QUICK RIDE AND RAN FINE. I AM TRYING TO POST THE VIDEO ON HERE BUT EBAY WONT LET ME. IT IS UP O YOUTUBE, JUST SEARCH FOR 1973 gt 750 MY USER NAME IS 234rustysteel. INJECTION OIL TENDS TO COLLECT IN THE PIPES WHEN THESE BIKES SIT SO THAT IS THE REASON FOR ALL OF THE SMOKE. IT CLEARED UP AFTER A SHORT RIDE. I HAVE RECEIVED REQUESTS FOR MORE PICTURES AND WILL POST THEM AS I GET THEM. ALSO, WHEN I SAY I WONT SHIP I MEAN I WILL NOT CRATE THE BIKE. HOWEVER, IF YOU WANT A SHIPPER TO PICK IT UP I WILL BE HAPPY TO WORK WITH YOU ON IT. Here is the vid. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6o0_X5z6S-w THANK YOU! As mentioned, its not a perfect trailer queen, but a great running example of a classic motorcycle. I will do my best to answer any questions, please feel free to contact me. Pick up only. I will not ship this bike. I will be happy to work with the winner to store if needed.
