Vehicle Detail

This is not a big motorcycle, just groovy little motorbike. A 1970 CL70 that has not been restored, it has been rebuilt for riding. The paint is original on frame and tank, although I am not positive that the tank is original to the bike. The engine is a new 125cc LIFAN with probably less than 200 miles on it. It is a 12 Volt system with CD ignition. I do not have the original engine. The sprockets are 14 and 37 tooth. The headlight is wired to be on as long as the egine is running. It has a new battery that can probably keep the LED taillight on for hours. I turned it into a mini cafe racer by stripping off the rear fender, but I still have the fender and tail light. It has the original handlebars with new grips, mirrors and controls. It does not have turn signals but they can be easily added. All of the wiring is new and all of the splices have been soldered and shrink wrapped.I was not happy with the original front brake cable routing so I made a bracket and re-routed the cable to be like a Vincent. At the front there is a new Michelin Gazelle with new tube, at the rear an IRC trials tire with plenty of tread. There are also some original parts that go with it including the original speedo (with 6429 miles showing).People have asked "How fast will it go?"I tried checking using a cheap bicycle speedo..It seemed to always top out at 49 mph so I think that was the speedo's limit. A skinnier guy laid out on the tank like Rollie Free might be able to reach 60.The inside of the tank has some rust but no leaks. I added an inline fuel filter and have not had any problems. The wheel bearings are original and the forks have not been rebuilt, I recommend addressing that.It is registered and has a plate from the state of Vermont. Vermont does not issue titles for small bikes.Whether you are looking for a good learner bike, a campground bike or a nostalgic commuter this bike offers plenty of possibilities. Cheers
