Vehicle Detail

I Have decided to sell my rare 1961 Honda Dream............merely out of frustration. By that I simply do not have the mechanical know how to get the bike running as it should. I will try my best to esplain and be as honest as possible in this description. This is a super nice looking bike...............as stated, I just don't have alot of mechanical knowledge. What I do know is this is a very early........"early" Dream. Frame is CA77 10125 and engine is CA77E-110130. As I understand, this bike also has the "breather" on backside of engine (see picture) that was changed mid year. There are several parts that are built differently that the later models and even the 62-63. If you are bidding on this bike, chances are that you probably know more about these bikes than I. This bike was originally black and last tagged and rode in 1970. I bought from original owner. As pics show. I took bike down to frame and sanded and sprayed with basecoat/clear.............2 coats base and 3 clear. There are several runs in paint that wont show in pics due to bike color. I have paint left over if you wish to resand areas and repaint. Other than that.........paint looks really nice but does have a few scratches from putting bike together etc. I actually had bike in my living room for a year or two as display. Last month, I sent tank panels and fork covers off to be rechromed for 430.00. Also has brand new badges. Bike has brand new tires and tubes with ZERO miles. Wheels are super nice chrome. I never got around to polishing hubs. etc. Seat was recovered about 6 months ago. Battery is brand new........bought a modern recitifer last week. All aluminum pieces have been polished to a brilliant shine.....even though they could use a quick hand rub due to water spots. No biggie. Lets see.........both headlight and starter button switches have been polished and starter button rebuilt by a very knowledgable Honda dream guy in Texas. Oh. he rebuilt carb and petcock 2 weeks ago. Aluminum strut parts were polished and new acorn nuts for struts installed. Chain guard comes with bike but I simply am not interested in installing again. Now, back to why im selling bike. I have busted my butt to try to get bike to run as it should. I have had help from others verbally but I simply do not know what im doing. As stated, I had carb and petcock rebuilt for about 150.00. Bike would run fine for about 3-4 minutes then start bogging down. I wld run battery down in process. Would then charge battery back for about 15 minutes, drain fuel bowl, and it would kick start first time................run 3-5 minutes once again and do the same dang thing over and over again. Some friends on a honda forum mentioned to adjust screws on carbs.............and to buy recitifier. So, I did................now damn thing won't start. I'm sure i goofed up the carb settings..................I have no idea. What i do know is that I am burned out and want the bike to go to someone that knows what they are doing. If selling bike doesnt all me to at least break even, I will tear apart and sell. I have 430.00 in tank panels and for covers alone. Not to mention paint, tires, seat cover, porta walls are brand new, clutch cable is a month old, rectifier and money spent on having aluminum polished (350.00). Bike didn't seem to smoke much......maybe a little. Was told it was fuel due to me messing with carb. Bike does not have carb covers now breather setup. Thats about all i can think of. I would have bought all of that at some point but am just disheartened with the whole process. If you have any questions, the best way to contact is probably via text or phone call. I am a teacher and am off for two months but have to borrow a computer as I dont own one. Phone number is 334-449-3761. Call me and Ill help anyway I can and be up front and honest . I don't want to part out bike...........its too nice for that. One more thing, the bike is really nice looking. Im probably seem hard about it but im just frustrated. Everyone loves the looks of this bike. I just can't fix it guys. Not gonna happen......lol. If there is anything, just ask..............Im sure i am forgetting something and dont want to be accused of misleading. Oh, the last straw was last Tuesday when it didnt want to start, I was trying to see if clutch plate things were stuck as i have read about that. Well, I guess i didnt have shifter tight and shifter turned on shaft. So.....I put back on and overly tightened and broke small bolt in the lever..............the one that tightens it to the shaft. I have shaft and you are more than welcome to it. Im sure im forgetting something................new parts etc..........right side muffler has surface rust while left side actually looks really nice. I guess these are original mufflers and pipe. You know more than I. Oh, headlight cover was replaced back in the 60's with one that has the "HONDA" badge on it. I do not have badge and my understanding is 1961 didnt have a badge. Either way, once again i have enough paint left to repaint if you wish to replace. There is no title in Alabama. I can offer a bill of sale. For some reason it didn't give me an option of clicking "Bill of Sale". So. i had to choose clear title.............but please know there IS NO TITLE! BILL of SALE ONLY! Also, i picked some random number for milage but know that mileage is UNKNOWN..........as picture shows obviously. Thanks and happy bidding. Hope you enjoy the bike. Hate to see it go. I will help with any reasonable shipping but remember to be nice and pay if you win. HOW MANY EARLY BIKES DO YOU SEE ON EBAY? NOT 61'S!!!!!!! NOT THIS NICE LOOKING IN APPEARANCE.On Jun-01-13 at 18:47:45 PDT, seller added the following information: Oh.................carb in pic is not original Dream carb but I do have it and it has been rebuilt. Both have by same person. I just havent put original Dream carb back on but it goes wsith bike. You can have them both. Smaller one is off of a 160 or smaller bike according to Ed. Both are like new.On Jun-01-13 at 18:53:05 PDT, seller added the following information: Cables etc need adjusted and i think it needed rear brake shoes..............front or rear.........seems like rear. Also needs a few bolts missing..................like for muffler. Nothing major............just trying to be up front. It may not take much at all to have a super running and sweet looking early Dream. I really don't know.On Jun-03-13 at 09:00:41 PDT, seller added the following information: I've had a few calls from people wanting to know reserve. I normally wouldn't disclose reserve but it's so close now, I don't see a big deal with it. Reserve is 1100.00. I feel like that is giving the bike away. In all honesty, I would value this bike around 1500-2000..........maybe more. I have around 1700.00 in new parts, paint etc.
