Vehicle Detail
1982 Chevrolet Crewcab Dually. 6.2 liter Diesel, TH400, Gear-driven NP205, Dana 60 Front, Dana 70 Rear. Engine is a replacement Goodwrench 6.2 liter diesel with unknown mileage. Engine starts right up, doesn't smoke, and runs great. It seems to be a low mileage motor but I can't tell you for sure. The glow plug controller has been switched to manual with a "On/Off" switch on the dash. Transmission is TH400 which I was told was recently rebuilt. It shifts firm and doesn't slip. No oil leaks on truck. I believe gear ratio is 4:10. It appears to be open differential both front and rear. Four-wheel-drive works like it should. The interior is complete but rough. Front bucket seats are covered. The carpet has been recently replaced. Tilt steering column. All the windows, doors and locks work. The dash is cracked but has a cover over it. Tires are in good shape with an estimated 90 Percent tread remaining on all six tires. Body is fairly straight overall but it does have a dented tailgate and also the passenger side of the front bumper is pushed in. The inside of the truck bed is in excellent condition. I couldn't find even a small dent in the truck bed which is extremely unusual. The odometer shows about 35000 miles, but I don't know the actual mileage. The odometer has only five digits so probably has flipped once or twice. The biggest issue I see with this truck is there is rust on the cab around the door openings. I scraped some of the paint off and it appears to me to be coming from the outside of the body under the paint/seam sealer. I think it could be fixed by removing all the paint and seam sealer and then sandblasting the rust away or treating the rust. I don't see any areas where the rust has gone all the way through the sheetmetal. I don't think it would be that bad to fix. I have included several pictures. I am not aware of any other rust on the truck. The air conditioning is not working. The compressor clutch needs to be replaced for sure. It might be that a new clutch and a charge is all that is needed but then again it may require more. Don't expect a perfect truck. This is over 30 years old. Other minor problems include: The cruise control doesn't work, The left side diesel tank leaks when it is all the way full--I believe there is a leak where the fill neck is soldered onto the tank. I was planning on taking the tanks out to get it fixed but it is full of diesel now. The plastic pointer on the gear selector is broken. It hasn't bothered me but may bother you. There may be other things that I am forgetting or not aware of but that's all I can think of now. The front springs have been recently replaced. They are Rancho springs and seem to be about two inches taller than stock. There is a 110 volt plug for a block heater--I live in Arizona and have never plugged it in. I just replaced one of the batteries. I changed the transfer case front output shaft seal. I also changed the rear pinion seal. Engine oil and filter was just changed. Buyer is responsible for pickup or arranging transport. The truck is located in Yuma, Arizona (85365) Overall this is a good running heavy duty truck. These crew-cab trucks are getting harder and harder to find, especially in 4wd. I have a clear title in my name. It is also currently registered and insured. Don't assume anything. Please email or call if you have questions. 928-580-6340 Truck is sold as is. On Jun-03-13 at 15:43:40 PDT, seller added the following information: I received a question about the condition of the bottom of the doors. I tried to add a picture to show how they look but couldn't figure out how to do it so I will try and describe it. When I looked at the bottom of the doors, I can see a little bit of rust under the paint at the very bottom. It is certainly not anything as bad as the body rust around the door openings. If you really want pictures of it (or anything else for that matter) send me your email and I will send you pictures. Also, note that the driver seat is torn under the seat cover. The fuel gauge is reading really high on the passenger side tank. The truck switches from tank to tank fine. I have not had the truck long enough to know if there is a problem with the right side fuel level sender--There might be. Please ask questions. I will try and update the description if needed. Thanks. On Jun-05-13 at 18:42:10 PDT, seller added the following information: I have to make a correction. I went out today and saw a drop of oil on the driveway under the truck. Upon further looking, it appears the oil is coming from somewhere around the rear of the oilpan. It is minor but I wanted to mention it just the same. On Jun-07-13 at 19:28:19 PDT, seller added the following information: Update: Yesterday I took the truck for a 40 mile drive on the freeway. Previous to this I had only driven it a few miles here and there. I wanted to make sure that it would not overheat. It never overheated (105 degrees outside) and drove nice and smooth. It drove down the road at 65 MPH with no issues at all. However, I did discover after returning that I do have a couple of leaks that I didn't know about. I previously fixed a power steering reservoir leak, a front transfer case output seal leak, and rear pinion leak. I thought all the leaks were taken care of but I was wrong. Today I crawled under the truck and saw a little oil on the front engine crossmember and also a little oil coming from the transfer case (it looked to be coming from one of the front transfer case shift rails-- the truck was parked facing downhill). Again, these are not major leaks but I can't say that it is a leak free truck.
