Vehicle Detail
Barn Find - actually quonset hut find. 1959 Fiat 1200. This car is missing its' manufacturing plate. However, the Identification Number was originally stamped into the body on the left side of the engine compartment. It reads 103 G 115 003085. This car may have been manufactured in 1958...however, import vehicles from the period were often titled when they were first sold... The result is 1959. The model was incorrectly listed as 120 (it's a 1200). The car is pretty solid though there is rust (mostly surface). There are a few holes in the floor pans. However, these are quite repairable as the floor pans are not completely rusted out...just in need of a few repairs. There is a dent on the driver's side front fender that just missed the chrome headlight ring. Someone (before me) sprayed white paint (poorly) on much of the car. Doesn't appear to have been intended to cover...maybe just practicing before painting another vehicle. Note...all four wheel covers are present. The chrome needs replated... The interior door handles and window cranks are there. A few other pieces are off and included inside the car...the hood ornament, as example. The side glass is there. Unfortunately the windshield is cracked and delaminating...but there. Missing: Seat, seat mounts, carpet, door cards, spare wheels, and probably some others. Though the title says the mileage 40980 is non-actual...this was the result of the previous owner estimating the mileage at 42000 in a transfer of the title from his wife to him in a divorce. I believe the odometer 40982 to be correct. It has an Ohio title in my name. Additional Info: As close as I can tell, the car was probably a dark blue. Some additional missing items...the ID plate that shows both the engine serial number and the chassis serial number, the rear fender embellishers and below the door trim, the jack and tire iron. I have added five additional pictures...one of the wheel covers, the damage to the front fender (metal is solid/surface rust only in this area), the missing ID plate, the windshield damage, the embellisher area on the rear fender.
