Note: This quad is being re-listed due to the original buyer having unexpected money issues. We bought this ’89 250R new from a local Honda dealer in the early 1990’s. I rode it right after we purchased it, for no more than 5 hours total run time. After that, the gas was drained and she was put in our shop. I always planned on riding her, but my ’88 250R is still running strong and healthy and will probably outlast my personal health and strength, so the 1989 is up for sale. This 250R is as mint as it gets. There are plenty of nicely restored 250R’s out there, but something can only be original once, and this R has every original nut and bolt. What you see is a time machine that rolled out of 1989 and emerged in 2013. The front plastic had never been removed until we took it off to shoot these photos. The paint is absolutely original, no touch-ups. The plastic has not been buffed or waxed, it is absolutely original. Chain, sprockets, axle, swingarm, a-arms, rims, tires, levers, grips, decals, everything that shows wear on a quad and that everyone else replaces or refinishes is completely absolutely stock on this bike. We did install an aluminum skidplate but the stock skidplate is included with the auction. There are two stains on the plastic which have been there since we bought the bike. We do not know what the stains are or what caused them. Simple washing does not remove them. One is on the lower forward area of the left rear fender, the other is on the lower back of the front right fender. Photos show the stains circled in green with an arrow pointing to them. The rear plastic also has some boot scuffs which are shown in a detail photo, you’ll see a green arrow pointing to the scuffs. There is some boot wear to the left side of the frame in the usual location. It is minor but does go through to the primer in one spot. Wheels and tires are stock, and you can see how little wear they have. The wheels have absolutely no dings and are perfect. They have never been removed from the bike. Every rubber fitting and hose on this bike are original. The tool kit is perfect and intact and none of the items have ever been used. All original paperwork (including original title and registration in our names dated 1993) is included. The owner’s manual has some sort of light moisture wrinkling on the cover and a very light stain on the inside front pages. We changed the oil and flushed the radiator, added race gas mixed with MC1 and she started and runs perfectly, as new.
