Vehicle Detail

This is the first year for the Honda Gold Wing. I Bought it from the original owner in Feb 1999 and have maintained it in climate controlled storage since purchased. It was last driven about a year ago. The bike has good tires and battery, it includes a luggage rack, detailed records and owners manual. You will need to perform service before riding. On Apr-07-13 at 20:25:32 PDT, seller added the following information: This bike is in Mint conditionOn Apr-08-13 at 07:16:03 PDT, seller added the following information: Please read the Q and A. . I have the original 75 shelter covers with the single lower gold strip. They are in excellent condtion and will come with the sale, if the buyer prefers them to the ones in the picture with the double lower stripe. On Apr-13-13 at 08:24:16 PDT, seller added the following information: Will sell to an International MarketOn Apr-15-13 at 08:56:12 PDT, seller added the following information: I have had inquires about whether the bike really lives up to the terms I have used like, original , mint , collector grade. Yes it does. See the comments about the shelter stripes. Also for those of you that know the difference, I have the 75 carb chrome strips. I put the later year ones on the bike in 99 when I synchonized the carbs with mercury vacuum sticks, because I liked the look of those better. Otherwise the bikes' nuts , bolts, chrome , fittings are pristine, and the bike does not show signs of having been worked on, certainly not by a shade tree mechanic. The carbs do run lean like it was set up new from Honda to met EPA emissions , meaning that you really need to warm up the bike before taking it off choke and driving it away. So I'm thinking that carbs have not been worked on before. For those serious potential owners that want an eye catching Goldwing to drive around but are not familiar with the mechanics of GL 1000 s start thinking about what mechanic is going to service it for you. It should be someone that is old enough to have worked on GL 1000 or 1100 s and not the local would be M/C mechanic . It would be a mistake to turn an inexperienced mechanic loose on this bike and let them make a mess of a fine GL1000. Consider getting and reading some of the Classic Wing Club Journals. For the Bidders that know GL 1000 inside and out ( I know you are out there) and it seems that I am talking down to you, have at it. Contact me, I will talk you through getting the bike drivable, it won't take much, just know how. You can take it to the bank, that this bike would hold it's own in a bike show of unrestored original GL 1000 's, I've looked at enough other examples to know. Good luck with the bidding, I suspect someone is going to snag the bike at a good price. On Apr-15-13 at 19:23:11 PDT, seller added the following information: I have new engine guards , both OEM and aftermarket. The new owner is welcome to both types at no extra charge. I have not mounted them, as either style clamp to the frame down tubes at one point in addition to attaching to the engine bolts. I did not want to take a chance on chipping any paint although if carefully installed that should not be a problem. Otherwise , there is no evidence whatsoever that the bike has ever been dropped. On Apr-16-13 at 08:23:50 PDT, seller added the following information: One last update. Everything that should be under the shelter is present, like tool kit . owners manual , tray , emergency kick starter pedal. The engine # is GL 1 E 1003172, Frame and plate # agree GL 1 1003126 Date of manufacture 3/75, so this is an early 75. Some history on the bike. I have copies of titles back to the original owner who lived in Atlanta and he purchased the bike 9/08/75. He sold the bike to a Motorcycle Technician acquantance of mine 1/20/99 Who titled the bike to himself with the intent to keep and ride. , and he serviced it. He decided that that it was too nice a bike to ride around , advertized it for sale in the cycletrader as a collector bike, we got in touch, as I had previously bought a bike from him, he delivered it to me at Daytona bike week , I have a bill of sale from him 2/18/99 (agrees with the day I titled it to myself) , and the bill of sale shows 11473 miles. The miles are now 12450, therefore , I have put less than 1K miles on it in 14 years You are welcome to all historical documents I have , and for the new owner feel fee to contact the prior owners. Final thoughts. In owning this bike , I have tried to have it both ways, on display for fellow motorcyclist to enjoy viewing, and yet drive now and then. It is best for the bike to either be permanently mothballed or driven frequently. The bike is and ideal purchase for and investor, for show in a museum as an unrestored original , or a GL 1000 Aficioando.
