Vehicle Detail
THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION!! This is a great old rover. I had an 88 back in high school, and a 95 a few years ago, and I regret selling them. I have been looking for a proper replacement for a few years, and I purchased this one thinking it was what I wanted. Turns out I do not have the time, space or money to do what I wanted with it. The GOOD: -CD changer works-tape deck works-Sound system sounds great, subwoofer works well (it has the stock premium sound with a subwoofer and tweeters in the doors)-SUNROOF WORKS-NO LEAKS-Cruise Control works-Rear wiper works-Power Seats work-Heated Seats work-Power windows work-Keyless entry works-Heater works great-A/C works great-The leather is all soft! Some of it is worn, but it is still soft and nice not dried or cracking.-The headliner is good!-NO LIGHTS ON THE DASH!... I am sure I am forgetting something but if it has it, it works.EVERYTHING WORKS. (quite remarkable, actually, considering it is a 20+ yr old land rover.) NEW PARTS IN THE LAST 2 YEARS: -Alternator-Plugs and Wires-All Belts-Water Pump-HEATER BLOWER MOTOR (this job parts+labor cost almost what the starting bid on the car is.)-A/C was charged-A/C and heater resistor-Ignition switch-Fuel Pump-Tires-It does come with the front lower valance and fog lights, and they work. I am SURE I am forgetting something here as well, but Land Rover Centerville and Great Basin Rovers should have most of the service records between them since it was new. THE BAD: There isn't a whole lot wrong with this rover, and they are all things that are very very common, almost unavoidable, with these old rangies. Here they are: Some of the wood trim around the window switches is chippingThe wood trim on the rear passenger door is missingDrivers door pocket- missingTAILGATE RUST- Every single RRC on the face of the planet is plauged with tailgate area rust. A new hatch and new tailgate can be had from several websites. FREE CARFAX REPORT HERE: LINK TEXT This is a sweet old rover that I hope someone will devote some time and money to. It has been well maintained, oil/filter changes every 3 months. It was dealer maintained the majority of its life. It leaks a little bit of oil, but nothing serious. Maybe 1 drop over night or less. It runs great, looks good, and is a lot of fun. I have been as honest as I can in describing it, please message me with any questions! Sold as is-where is. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. I can meet a transport truck anywhere within 50 miles of salt lake city. I am happy to help you make arrangements.Payments: A $250 non-refundable deposit is required immediately after auction close. Full payment within 3 days. Paypal is preferred but will take cashiers check or bank transfer. Please don't participate if you are not a serious buyer. A bid is not to express interest in the car, it is to BUY IT. IF YOU BID AND YOU WIN, YOU OWN IT! Someone out there IS a serious buyer, so don't waste my time and theirs if you are going to back out. On Apr-11-13 at 08:26:25 PDT, seller added the following information: Here is a good series of questions asked by a buyer, and they are common/good questions so I am posting them for everyone. Dear *monkeycycles*, Hello A few questions about your truck: You have clear title , in your name? I do! How long have you owned this Rover and how many miles have you driven it? A short time, but I have driven it on a 40 mile commute every day to get a feel for it. Maybe 4k miles and one oil/filter change during my ownership. Any rust besides the tailgate? Minimal. The tailgate itself isn't even that rusty, it is the areas to the sides by the tail lights and the upper hatch. There is a tiny bit on the underside of the hood, and about a quarter size bit of rust in the passenger rear door jam. Thats it. Any smoke from engine? None, except on cold start for a minute or two. (burning off oil that seeps through the valve seals while it sits over night- totally normal) Has it been converted to spring coils coils or the air suspension? I believe it had coils from the factory, but yes, it has coil suspension. 4 wheel drive work as it should? 4wd works great (high-low), just as it should. Engine sounds and pulls and is stout? Engine pulls great, sounds good, It isnt going to win any races but it is powerful enough. Any issues shifting gears? Transmission feels great. Occasionally a hard shift from 1-2 or 2-3 when cold or under full throttle. I suspect a transmission fluid/filter change would remedy this. Any shakes rattles or noises when she is going? Nope! quiet and smooth. She tracks straight, doesn't wobble or shake under braking or acceleration. Any dents, bruises or chips larger that a 1/2"? Only one, at the bottom of the drivers door. Easily popped out. Do all the doors and shims open and close easily? Yes, they all open and shut smoothly as they should. The only issue (a very common issue for old discos and range rovers) is that 1 out of every 15 or so times, the drivers door lock sticks so that you must either pull it up or have the key in while pulling the handle. This is easily remedied by an adjusting rod inside the door. And while you were at it, you could pop out the dent on the drivers door. Is there anything else you think needs attention on the truck? To be solid, no; to be perfect, yes. That is up to the new owner. You mentioned in your AD, that you hope the new owner would devote some money to making the truck great.....what would you spend some money on to make the truck fantastic? I would have all the rust eradicated, and have it gone over by a good rover mechanic. I would do a good tune up (runs fine as is) and maybe a valve job at some point. I would also do an intake, headers and exhaust. These buick v8's sound great when they can breathe. I had also considered at some point doing a turbo-diesel and/or manual transmission swap. I was going to put in the better transfer case out of a later discovery, locking diffs, maybe a mild lift, bumpers, aux lighting, etc. but that is all personal choice. I would also have replaced the stock speakers and head unit/subwoofer (but with same-sized speakers so it still looked stock) ONLY because I am a bit of an audiophile, not because they don't work/sound great. and lastly, will you assist with a transport company that I arrange for pickup?I will be happy to help with making arrangements in any way I can! Sorry for the number of questions, just trying to be thorough and find a rover that has been cared for and can be saved:)Thanks for showing genuine interest, it is a sweet old car. They should ALL be saved. :) On Apr-11-13 at 08:29:15 PDT, seller added the following information: Oh and it does come with all the original rubber mats! And the clock in the dash works, illuminates and keeps time, which I found remarkable because none of mine ever worked.
