Vehicle Detail
Red 1971 Model 96. V-4 engine. 134,200 true mi. Runs well, very well actually. Inspected. NH sticker good through March 2014. Towbar. Nearly new tires. Paint is sun-degraded. Driven most days, except rainy or threat of rain days. Came from North Haven Island, Maine, where they don’t salt the roads. INTERIOR: Carpets of my own fitting – not remotely faithful to original. Clock works, keeps fair time. No radio. Seat upholstery (black) fairly good except for small splits in passenger front seat. Rear window deck is black plywood. Headliner in good shape. New door seals. Firewall area sheathing, glove box and rubber front wheel well covering need renewing if you want restoration. No cracks in dashboard. (Not much sun in North Haven, Maine). Some surface rust on instrument bezels and dash. Speedometer reading jumps around a bit. Boot light works, plus the interior light and gauges. Interior heat control valve recently removed and lubricated. Works well. Backup lights on pull-switch at location of old instrument light dimmer (included, but not serviceable). MECHANICAL: Original FoMoCo carburetor with coolant-controlled choke, just rebuilt professionally. Brake master just professionally re-sleeved and booster diaphragm rebuilt. Brakes fine. Recent pads front & rear. Fully functional free wheeling, disabled currently (so we don’t make the expensive mistake of only half-engaging it.) Nearly new water pump. Newly rebuilt distributor. New stainless battery tray and good battery. No oil leaks. Tires 2 yrs old & under 1,000 miles. EXTERIOR: Light duty trailer hitch and 2" receiver installed on aluminum channel rear bumper with receiver hitch (for pedal bike rack) plus working trailer-lights pigtail. Bumpers included. All 4 Chrome wheel covers included. Rims in painted zinc-rich paint. Spare tire: fair. Welding and polyester resin patches on previously rusted spots. Good directional lenses. Wrinkles in trunk lid and behind right rear window. Deep scratch in driver’s door. Windshield very good. Was the counterculture car of her day. We meet lots of Saab lovers wherever we park and always get waves on the highway. Fun car to drive and very easy to work on. Most parts easily available. Bill of Sale only. NH does not title cars this age. Questions call 603-686-0342 Eastern Time zone. Oil on front muffler is from replacing oil pressure guage line - not a leak.On Apr-03-13 at 05:02:45 PDT, seller added the following information: First six photos are 'before' snapshots, about 4 years old. Intended as placeholders so I could begin the listing (after dark). Surprise, surprise Ebay's glitch prevented me from substituting them or even re-ordering them. Rest of photos are from the second day of the listing.
