1966 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ40 FJ40 restoration shop offering this 66 FJ40. I bought this FJ40 with the intention of full-restoration, but I have several in restoration right now for the high end auction houses, so I need to let this one go. This truck is a perfect entry level mild restoration project. This cruiser is solid, has good mechanicals, and is emissions exempt in all 50 states (1966 model year is exempt the last time I checked, but make sure in your state) This truck spent a few days in my shop going through everything to make it safe and driveable. You can drive and restore as you go. I drove this truck 50 miles the other day, no complaints or serious issues. This is the desired vortec motor, compression tested 164-167 on all 8 cylinders. Built to the 280-290 HP range. Air gap aluminum intake, Edelbrock 4 barrel carburetor. FJ40 over the fender stainless headers. The exhaust works, and there are mufflers, but the PO did flex pipe, not the best way to do it, I would change that out eventually, but it works for now. Aluminum radiator, electric fan. The clutch is stage 2, strong, the transmission is FJ40 3 speed and shifts well. The transfer case is original FJ40. The brakes have been rebuilt, stops well for what it is. Warn up-right 8000lb winch (this is the $2400 new price winch that put Warn on the map) works great with controller. BFG 32 in tires with excellent tread, newer battery, tow bar. Heater box is installed but not hooked up. BODY This is one of the best original bodies I've seen on a 1966. This Cruiser lived in the high desert of eastern WA its whole life. The panels all appear to be original, they line up as they should, no evidence of any wreck. I could not find any notable rot. The PO sprayed primer on this truck a couple years ago to prevent the peeling paint starting to rust. Finding any FJ40 without rot, with the original sheet metal, complete hard top and doors these days are a task. The pro to this truck in the desert means no serious rust, but the sun heat bakes off the crappy original single stage paint. The front windshield is cracked, the rest of the glass is good. The seats were just re-upholstered with new foam and vinyl. New bumperettes, turn signals, nice fender emblems. My favorite part on these early FJ's are the chrome hood ornament. The fiberglass lid is in good shape. Look at the pictures, the bottoms of the doors, tub, fenders, rear, all solid. This cuts thousands of dollars out of the restoration costs with a rot free vehicle. The rear fenders are un-cut (huge plus). The original color is beige. I added all the missing parts I had from my collection, I do not have the time for additional work to this vehicle hence the sale. I changed over the title to my name 3/13/13, I will get the title in physical form 4-5 weeks from that date, it is in my name, have the app. paperwork to show if necessary. I mail you the paperwork as soon as I get it. I will be at the Mecum auction April 3-7 selling my mint 65 FJ45 pickup and 83 FJ45 Troopy. They are both going no reserve and will be on live TV via Velocity April 6th after 2pm TX time. I have a reliable shipping broker, or will work with your shipper. I have employees to load the truck if I'm gone and can coordinate from TX if need be. FYI Cruisers are selling from 50-90k at the auctions in the past year, they are a worthy vehicle to restore and enjoy, when you move on, they are actually worth what you put in or more. Finding a complete rot free running/driving FJ40 under 10k is getting difficult. TERMS Winning this auction means you own the vehicle, not 1st chance to look.
