Vehicle Detail

Thank you for your interest in my 1983 25th Anniversary Edition Daytona 500 Trans-AM. You are probably aware that Pontac built only 2500 of these Pace Car Editions, of that number only 483 where built with 5 Speeds and T-Tops. There is a lot of information available on the internet about how this Edition was the first to have Special Two-tone Paint, Leather & Pigskin Recoro Bucket Seats, the first use of Red Insrument Panel Lighting, the Special AERO Package thet helped reduce the drag coefficient to about .3050 and the new for 1983 5-Speed Manual Transmission with 0.730:1 Overdrive. Full documintation from PHS ( Pontiac Historic Services) Automotive Services with Window Sticker (2), Delivering Dealer Invoice, Press Release Information, and other supporting documents with an Membership Application to the Pontiac Oakland Club International are included with the car. The provenance of ownership and my knowledge of this vehicle is from day one as I sold this car new at Mesa Pontiac GMC located in San Diego. My client liked it so much that when we told him we were only getting one he asked me if I could teach him to drive a manual transmission. I agreed to teach him and he bought it at the full list price of $18,225.83 plus tax, license, and doc fees. About a year later he had medical problems and we (the dealership) repurchased the car. When my cousin found out this vehicle was available he purchased it from me being only the 2nd owner. My cousin drove the car untill April 2000 when he parked it to keep the milage down and do a restoration. Well he didn't get around to the restoration and stored it out side until I purchased it in July 2011. The car, while still needing restoration, is a usable viable means of transportation. I have probably invested over $6,000 in it to make it a sold dependable driver but other things have taken priority of my time and monies. This car never had some of the decals installed (windows - Pontiac, Doors - Daytona Logo, or the NASCAR - on rear quarters, dealer items) but there is a set of new OEM decals included to help towards restoration. My cousin did replace the original 5-speed with a brand new one (exact replacement same like and kind) because it was leaking and the Pontiac dealer could not seem to fix it, the original numbers matching transmission is included. While the pictures show that this is not a show car I would like to point out that it is all stock and unmolested. I know the engine is all original and never opened, the body all original, and vehicle is all compleate. The car lived in Pacific Beach, CA then Escondido, CA and now in Hemet, CA. Like I said previously while stored in Escondio outside it didn't help the cars interior but there isn't anything that can not be found new or even at wrecking yards as most of the same interior parts are shared with 3rd Generation Chevrolet & Pontiac F Bodies. I know of only one non-stock item that has been changed by (first owner), the 3.73 rear axle was changed to a 3.42 due to a howel in the gear set. With this gear change I get around 16 to 18 MPG around town and when I drove it to SEMA averaged 22 MPG driving 75. At 60 in 5th the rpms are jest at 2000, 65 = 2150, 70 = 2250. This a solid great driving and fun car. If you a California resident purchasing this vehicle the Smog Certification was just done (Feburary 28, 2013) and is good for transfer for 60 days. The vehicle is currently licensed until April 26, 2013. Delivery is available at an additional cost by me driving it to your destination anywhere in the contiguous 48 states. If you have any questions call me, Sheldon, at (951) 658-8444. If there is no answer leave a message and I will call you back. More pictures available.
