**DUE TO EMPTY PROMISES AND NON-PAYING BIDDERS I HAVE TO RELIST THIS TRUCK AT NO RESERVE AS I AM LEAVING NEXT WEEK FOR A LONG VACATION! IF YOU ARE SERIOUS ABOUT THIS TRUCK CONTACT ME AND WE WILL MAKE A DEAL, OTHERWISE IT WILL BE SOLD FOR THE ENDING BID IN 5 DAYS!!** Up for sale is the most desirable 2nd generation Cummins you will ever come across. This 1998 Didge Ram 2500 Diesel 4x4 is considered the “Holy Grail” of its generation. being that it has the ultra reliable 12 Valve engine that was offered in the 1994 to early 1998 models only. In mid 1998 these trucks switched over to the 24 Valve engine which had a very problematic fuel system, and a large portion of them had “53” Engine blocks which were prone to cracking. Which is why this truck is called the “Holy Grail” of Ram Trucks. The early generation 12 Valve engine has stood the test of time and proven reliable for years upon years. Looked upon as the most desirable diesel engine ever produced, combined with the 98.5-02 body style with all its factory options this truck is clearly the best of both worlds. The 98.5-02 generation includes features such as: Digital Odometer, redesigned interior, 4 Functional doors on quad cab models, an optional 6.5’ bed, and many more upgrades. The “Holy Grail” term was given specifically to the very low amount of early 1998 Ram 2500 Quad Cab Short Bed 12 Valve Single Rear Wheel 4x4 trucks produced. I have personally owned over 20 second generation Cummins Rams and this one in particular is special in many ways. It has never had any performance modifications other that a recent exhaust system done to it. A good way to tell a 12 Valve truck has never been modified is to look at the P-Pump system and if the factory shear bolts have been removed at some point they will be broken off. This means the fuel plate was removed, or the pump was turned up. This truck as you can see still has the factory bolts/rivets in place. Underneath the hood there are absolutely no modifications and the truck was never abused or driven hard its whole life. This is nearly impossible to find when it comes to buying a 2nd generation Cummins. The “KDP” (Killer Dowel Pin) recall was fixed at a Dodge dealer when the recall was issued. On the outside of the truck I have tastefully modified it not only for good looks but for long term reliability. There are also a few other tasteful modifications done to the truck including: SkyJacker 5” Suspension Lift Kit/Leveling Kit (Part # D502KS, $1843.57) with Hydro ShocksSpohn Upper and Lower Control Arms (Part # D00-02-F4, $728.00) Poly Bushings, Grease Fittings4” Diamond Eye Performance Exhaust System (Part #K5216A, $344.95)6” MBRP Polished/Stamped Exhaust Tip (Part #T0572, $74.99)18x9 Pro-Comp Extreme Alloy 6089 Series Chrome Wheels ( Part #6089, $261.99 each)37x13.50R18 Dunlop Rover M/T Maxx Traction Offroad Tires ($427.39 each)Posi-Lok 4x4 Axle Engagement System (Part #POS-400, $159.99) Recently replaced OEM components: Front Wheel Bearing/Hub Assemblies- Timken (Part #SP580100 $469.00 each) -1/15/2013Duralast Gold HD Batteries- ($129.00 Each, 2 Year Warranty)- 8/22/12Front Brake Rotors, Pads, and Hardware-1/15/13 Condition- Having owned 20+ of these trucks, I am very familiar with the issues that they have and how inconvenient or costly they can be to repair or replace. One of the most attractive features of this truck would be the fact that the entire dash, and dash bezel are not cracked and fully intact, which is nearly impossible to find. No rips in the driver seats let alone any of the seats. Carpet has stains/wear to be expected for a 15 year old truck. Although this truck has been an Ohio truck most of its life, you can see that it is virtually rust free. Some surface chips exposing surface rust throughout the truck but unlike most 2nd generation rams that have bad cab corners, rotted doors fenders and beds this truck is pretty solid. I recently used an undercoating corrosion guard type paint on the bottom half of the truck and it not only looks great but will help keep rust away from the truck in the common areas. Body has some dents and dings in it to be expected, and as you can see the front and rear bumpers have some significant dents in them. Rear doors are sometimes sticky to open, which is very common. Engine/Drivability- Starts right up, even in freezing conditions, and has never let me down. Transmission shifts as it should and overdrive works great. The lift kit on the truck has caused the shifter cable/handle to be a bit tricky at times, but it is something that can be replaced or adjusted as needed. As stated above, I just spent over 800 dollars replacing the wheel bearing/hub assemblies in an effort to tighten up the front end however like most dodges the steering does have play and travel and may feel a little worse than it actually is with the large wheels and tires hugging the ground. It does show an ABS light on the dash. The factory 4x4 vacuum system on these trucks is very unreliable and fails at the worst times. To eliminate that on nearly all of my trucks I install the Posi-Lok Axle Engagement system which gets rid of all vacuum components and gives you direct management by a cab/lever mounted in the cab to guarantee the axle locks in the front. This is an extremely nice feature to have already installed, and was well worth the installation. Overall the truck looks great, and is very reliable. It maintains factory drive train reliability and having never been modified just pro-longs the life of the drive train meanwhile has the looks of a show truck. The truck is 15 years old with 223k miles, please expect all wear and flaws associated with its age. This is the only 12 valve that doesn't leak oil that you will find on the market right now. Clean Ohio Title in hand. Fly into Cleveland Hopkins INTL Airport and I’ll pick you up, or drive out to get it. Or I can have it shipped at the buyers cost anywhere in the United States.
