This is a rare bird. AMC records indicate approximately 80 something 401/4speed Javelins were manufactured in 1972. How many of these were black? It's anyone's guess. Black was NOT a popular color for cars in general back then. Maybe 10 or 12 black Javelins out of the 80? How many ORIGINAL black Javelins are left? Only one that I know of. This car has received ONE repaint from new and it is a beauty. You could style your hair in the reflection on this car. The list of options from the original window sticker includes: Go package consisting of the 401/4speed, dual exhaust(replaced with flowmasters and aluminized pipes), HD cooling, Cowl air induction, handling package, twin grip posi, PDB, black rear panel, E60-15 RWL tires, hood stripe, 15x7 slotted wheels, and rally pac instruments. Other options include center console, power steering, tinted glass, light group, space saver spare, special paint charge of $37.80 was applied. Custom autosound am/fm cassette/CD player provides a high end music experience when you want to listen to something other than the wonderful exhaust note or the giant sucking sound provided by the carb during heavy acceleration. This car still retains a great deal of it's originality; the only deviations from stock are the aluminized exhaust/mufflers, sound system, exterior paint, rear window louvers. This vehicle was gently used and pampered it's entire life. It runs, drives, stops, and looks as perfect as any. There are NO dings, chips, or rash of any kind. All of my cars are TOP NOTCH and this is the best of the lot. Lots of DOCUMENTATION goes with this car: original ads, original color chip chart, bill of lading (looks like window sticker), thank you letter to original purchaser, owner ID card and Buyer Protection Plan brochure, and original owners manual. If you want the finest 72 Jav/AMX in it's original scheme of black/black with THE most desirable drivetrain, this is most likely IT. This is a matching numbers car.
