Vehicle Detail

Available to a new home is a 1967 Fairlane 500 with a 390, Auto, Disc brakes, power steering, tinted glass, limited slip differential, courtesy light group, deluxe steering wheel, deluxe seat belts, remote mirror and wheel covers. It's a Ski Country Special in Loveland Green. Here's a brief description of the Ski Country Special Package from MustangSpecs.com "In the winter of 1967, the Denver Sales District created a promotional package called the Ski Country Special. Colors available on these cars included: Aspen Red, Vail Blue, Winter Park Turquoise, Loveland Green and Breckenridge Yellow. This promotion was also available on the Fairlane and Galaxie. Unique features on the Ski Country Special included: ski rack, "coffee bar" (luggage rack), limited slip axle, unique emblem and two snow tires. On December 8th, 9th, 10th, and 15th of 1966, the advertisements appeared in the Rocky Mountain News. " This Fairlane was sold new to Donald Wolford in Colorado Springs. The selling dealer was Phil Long Ford Inc. The next history I have on the car starts in 1982 when Earl Woolsey purchased the car from his neighbor here in Missouri. Some details were a little fuzzy though, Earl is close to 90 now. The car had approx 140k on it so he rebuilt the engine and transmission but never finished hooking things up after the eng/trans were installed. The car sat in clean dry storage for the next 30 years. It did suffer some damage from mice during its long hibernation. I got the car running and driving so the excellent running engine and trans essentially have zero miles on them. I put a new master cylinder on but did not rebuild the rest of the brake system, thus I have not drivin it on the highway. Plus there is no exhaust system. It was removed and lost/discarded many years ago. The paint appears to be mostly original with some spot repairs, some good, some not so good. All touch ups were done over 30 years ago. The car did not have its Ski Country Special badges or Ski Rack when Earl bought it in 1982. There are some minor rust spots in the usual places but overall the car is very solid and original. The headliner and carpet were already removed when I picked up the car and the door panels were in the trunk. I have left everything untouched except for getting it running and driving again. The Data tag has the required black color code and a Nov 17, 1966 build date, just in time for the Dec ad campaign. It also has the 3.00:1 Locking rear axle for those snowy Ski adventures and the special order 6 digit Denver DSO of 510034. If you're looking for truely unique old Ford to restore or drive as is then consider this ol' Fairlane. I talked to Bob Teets who is the registrar for High Country Specials and Ski Country Specials. He said that in 25 years of keeping track of these cars this is the only non-Mustang Ski Country Special known to exist. A true one of one. (an overused term these days but I feel this car is deserving) For more info about his unique piece of FoMoCo history history call 573-230-6222. This car is also advertised locally so please don't be upset if it doesn't last for the full 10 day auction. I've had so much interest in the car that I made a photobucket account of pictures.
