Vehicle Detail

You are bidding on a very unique car -- only 6,526 of these vehicles with the large/fast 6.3 Liter V-8 engine were ever produced! I have listed and am selling this for my friend and business partner, who has owned the car for about 20 years. The original upholstery is in good condition as you can see in the pictures. The tires have few miles on them. It comes with the original wheels with correct date stamp. Also included is the tool kit and the original manuals shown and many records dating back to early owners. This car is very solid. Other than the 20 years here in Georgia, Most of this car's time was spent in Texas with a short stint in Montana. Since it has been in Georgia, the majority of the time the car has been garaged with only minimal time outside. The body is solid with one bubble of rust near the driver's side windshield, probably from a scratch when the windshield was replaced before he purchased in 1992. The car is in need of paint because it is faded (the florescent lights make it shine in the pictures, so you have an idea of how great it will look once painted). It also needs a tune-up, minor repairs and some TLC to become an extraordinary Mercedes 300 SEL. The car starts and runs, but it is rough, so it will have to be picked up or shipped, rather than driven. It had been in great running condition as few as three years ago, but it has just been sitting inside rather than being driven, so it will need tuning up. Also, if the car sits without running, the air suspension system will slowly bleed down. It has brand new rear air bags installed, however. Here is more info about this type of car: The Mercedes-Benz 300 SEL 6.3 is a luxury car built by Mercedes-Benz from 1968 to 1972. The car started out as a private venture in 1966 by company engineer Erich Waxenberger. His principle was simple: take the powerful 6.3 liter V-8 Mercedes-Benz M100 out of the luxurious 600 limousine, and fit it into the regular Mercedes-Benz W109 S-Class model which only had 6-cylinder engines at that time. The result was a nearly 2-ton car with the performance similar to most dedicated sports cars of the era. Surprisingly, the rather conservative company went ahead and launched the car into the marketplace at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1968, in order to make better use of the M100 engine production facilities. The 6,500 build of the 6.3 outnumbered the 2,700 build of the 600 by far. What set this car apart from its contemporaries in the late 1960s though, was that it could cruise at over 200 km/h (124 mph) with 5 occupants in complete comfort within the body styled by Paul Bracq. Performance According to Factory Figures 0-62 mph (100 km/h): 6.3 seconds0-100 mph (160 km/h) : 14.6 secondsStanding 1/4 mile (~400 m) : 14.2 secondsTop Speed : 229 km/h (142.3 mph)300 HP Air suspension, ventilated disc brakes on all four wheels, power windows, central locking and power steering all came standard. These cars are very collectible today. There is a w108.org website dedicated to this W109 and the W108 S Class cars as well as an international group m-100.cc website. The NADA average retail value is $20,600 with a high value of $32,700. The buy it now is well below the average retail and way below the high value, so you should have room to do what you want and still have a great investment! If you want to come look at the car or talk to its owner, just send me an eBay message and I will pass on the owner's contact information.
