Vehicle Detail
This is a 1976 MG Midget with the "special" package (luggage rack, steering wheel wrap, trim rings, and the decal on the side, which can still be purchased today) installed by dealers starting in 1976. This car can either be restored or used for parts. The car was purchased for parts (the seats and door panels and other interior parts particularly) for another MG I have, however I decided to get the original style seats instead. There is surface rust in places on the vehicle, and there is a little rust on top of the sills, so if this car would be restored, that is one area that needs attention. The caveat, is that the previous owner cut the transmission tunnel out to complete an engine swap, and of course never completed it. As is, the vehicle would be a great candidate to do this, however, the tunnel is still with the car and could be welded back in, if the car was to be refinished in its original state. I did get the original engine with the car as well, but it is mostly disassembled. I believe the PO stated a bearing was shot. Regardless, it would have to be rebuilt. It does have a weber downdraft carb, which could be used if this car would just go for parts. Overall, with the exception of rust forming on the top of the sills, and the trans tunnel, the car is fairly solid. There is a dent in the fender, which could be repaired, but probably better off replaced. The good: the seats, and door panels are in nice condition (they just need to be cleaned up), the gauges appear in nice condition. Awhile back, I had hooked up a battery, and most of the electronics (lights, windshield wiper motor, etc. worked). So this at least confirms that components and the wiring harness are intact and work. Overall, the vehicle has some very nice parts on it, or could be a candidate for restoration, with minimal work if you're proficient with a welder. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask. Also, I do have parts (doors, etc.) for midgets (primarly parts for Mark III chrome bumper cars) if interested. I can be contacted via email through ebay, or (803) 604-6931 (text included). No spam please. Thanks! Also, the mileage states 40000. I didn't take note to see what it actually was, but I can get it if necessary. Thanks. On Jan-13-13 at 09:08:29 PST, seller added the following information: I forgot to include it, but I also have the transmission for the car as well. I would be willing to sell the engine components and transmission separately if interested.
