Vehicle Detail
This truck was manufactured at Ford's San Jose plant in October of 1970. It is original chrome yellow. I am the third owner and have owned it for 5 years. Wish I could keep it. GVW 6,800 Transmission: 4-Speed New Process 435 Transfer case: Dana 24 Rear axle: 4.10 - 5200# Dana 60 Limited Slip Front axle: 3,500# Dana 44F Leaf springs C7TA5560G — 2 1/4" wide, 6 over 3 for a total of nine springs (plus a helper spring). Spring load capacity 2,400. Warn locking hubs. Originally three gas tanks were installed at the Ford factory. One of the spares has since been removed, so it has 2 tanks. (a third could be reinstalled easily, all fuel tubes and switch valves are still there) The engine in this truck was originally a 360. The second owner of this truck had the engine rebuilt (bored over) as a 390. I do have the paperwork on the rebuild, and it was approximately 13,000 miles ago and the engine is in excellent shape still (cost of the engine rebuild was $4,810). I am also told by my mechanic that the alternator and radiator have been upgraded to the 1-ton truck parts. The truck was wired for towing, and also the charging system wired to charge three batteries (two under the hood, one in a trailer). The truck has some beautifully overbuilt custom bumpers with a PTO driven Koening Winch. The PTO winch works great. Extremely rare option! The second owner also had a single solid sheet of steel welded over the bed of the truck, as it is now (The existing bed is still underneath the steel, and from beneath I can see that it has some rust perforations. (Original owner was a tree surgeon, and acidity from cut tree branches caused bed rust). Some maintenance that I have done in the meanwhile have been replacing the radiator, alternator, distributor, rebuilding the carb, brakes, exhaust manifold. Inside of the cab is clean. Black vinyl seat is nice. Black dash is nice. Original ford floor mat is nice. FM/AM cassette. In general, just nice and original. Cowboy hat holder is included. Black Stetson negotiable. The grill is swapped out from a 1968 truck, because I liked it better than the 71. The truck has no major issues. Known minor issues: • It will need new tires soon (235/85R16). I mention this in particular because one of the front tires was not balanced right and over the life of the tire it has worn on one side more than the other, consequently when you get the truck over 50 mph right now you will start to feel it wobble a bit. • The driver's door panel is peeling away a tiny little bit on the bottom, needs a few clips. Very minor. • The speedometer is intermittently squeaky. The cable was replaced and it was still squeaky. The speedo unit was replaced (on 04/21/12, which is why the odometer only reads 1747, but the title and other paperwork will confirm mileage on engine) and it is still squeaky. Beats me. Maybe the cable is routed wrong. • Please notice that where the passenger mirror arm meets the door, there is a very small and slight dent. • As for rust, the truck is pretty much free of penetrating rust-- the undercarriage is great. There is one small spot of penetrating rust, which I have taken a close up picture of, and it is in the truck bed, in the pillar beside the tailgate See the picture. Other than that, there are a few edges and seams with minor surface corrosion that really will not be a problem unless you live in the deep south or something. Cab corners are good, and undercarriage is good, still has the original protective undercoating. If you have questions or would like specific pictures just let me know. This is an awesome truck, believe me. --------------- Clean title in my name.Full Payment within 7 days. Cashiers check or wire transfer from a reputable bank only, thank you.
