Vehicle Detail

Up for sale is my 1980 IH Scout 2 RARE factory turbo diesel. It runs and drives good. I bought this vehicle to fix up and work on since I have always wanted a diesel vehicle. This was going to be my father and mine's project vehicle and offroad vehicle. It has the extremely desireable factory Nissan SD33T inline 6 turbo diesel that was only avaiable in the 1980 year models. The transmission is a t-19 manual 4 speed. The transfer case is a Dana 300 and the axles and dana 44 front and rear with 4.09 gears. The scout runs and drives good and straight. The steering does not have any unusual play or slop in it. The scout does have some rust issues in the normal areas, and I have removed most of the front body panels to get the scout ready for the rebuild. The scout does not have: top, doors (althought I do have 2 good condition doors avaiable), hood (I do have one avaiable in good shape), grille, fenders, and windshield frame. There are a few new part that have been instaled on the scout. I have installed a new spin on fuel filter conversion and have had the oil changed. The air filkter has been replaced with a K&N high flow filter and the fiklter housing has been sandblasted and repainted and also 2 additional holes have been installed to allow for more air flow. (The difference in power is very noticeable!). Also the radiator has been replaced with a new one and the water pump has also been replaced. (the radiators for these Scouts are crazy expensive! over $500!!!) The engine starts up and runs great. It does smoke a little upon start up, but only for a very short time. The engine gets great gas mileage!!!! The 4x4 system works good, but the front hubs have been removed but are avaiable on a seperate listing. We planned on installing an aftermarket set and going ahead and replacing the wheel bearings as well but have not got around to it yet. The scout's tub is fairly solid and from what I can tell there is only one small spot in the rear floor where it has rusted through. The door sill panels are fairly rusty, but can easily be replaced. The main body on the scout is in good shape and all parts that are needed are avaiable as aftermarket parts from many different scout vendors. I found all body panels needed to replace the rusted panels including a full top for just $850 at a junkyard, but due to my work schedule I have not been able to get back up there to get them. Thats about all I know about it. I have driven it on trips up to about 75 miles at the longest with no problems. I mainly drive it around on my river property. The front brakes and new and so are the front brake hoses. The rear brakes need new wheel cylinders since they are leaking and also new rear shoes. Also the tires have excellent tread, but do have dryrot on them. They are ok for around town but I would not try to drive it a very long distance! I do have all 5 wheels and they appear to be the original wheels which are really rare!!!!!! C CHECK OUT MY OTHER LISTING FOR MY DAD'S 1977 IH Scout 2 in good shape thats a daily driver!!!!!! The scout was originally from up North somewhere, but spent a good part of its later years in Florida near the beach. Hence all the rust on the body panels. The frame and tub are solid as can be though!! The vehicle was last registered in Florida and had a Florida title, but I have not been able to get it from the previous owner since he has moved. In Georgia you do not need a title for a vehicle this old to be registered and in other states you would just need to apply for a title. Scout will be sold with a Bill of Sale and I will work with buyer to help them get a title if it is needed in their state. I know it would not be a problem at all in Florida, but other states I would have to verify with the DMV. Any questions please let me know and I will do my best to get them answered. I will not take less than $2000 for the scout since it could be parted out for way more. The engines along go for $1500 and up, transmissions for $400-$600, dana 300 t-case $550, dana 44 front and rear axle pairs with desireable front caster (onkly in the 1980 models) and the desireable 4.09 gear ratio $1000 or more, guages $200 for the set, wiring harness in great shape $250-400, rear bumper with tow package $250, etc. etc.... Any questions you can send me a message or call me at 912-223-8714
