Vehicle Detail

If you like any kind of classic British cars, a Triumph TR6 is probably on your long list of cars to own. These little cars have a style that is unique to them, and they are quite the performers as well. Unfortunately most TR6’s fall into two distinct categories: very well restored machines with a sky-high price tag, or abused/neglected rust buckets in bad shape. Well here’s one that doesn’t fall into either camp! This TR6 was restored to a decent level in the mid 2000s by the former owners, but then it was used very little and eventually it was parked outside for some time. We have recently rescued this car and put much time and effort to bring it back to a decent, drivable state so that it can be enjoyed daily. Since the older restoration was done well, our emphasis was on mechanical reliability and the interior—the body and mechanicals have survived quite nicely and we elected to leave them as-is. The paint is in decent condition with plenty of gloss, but there are a few dings here and there, as well as three small rust perforation spots, two by the Left quarter window, and another at the bottom of the passenger door. Both are not very noticeable. The top is a new replacement and comes with a boot to cover it. The tires are new Michelin X ‘red lines’ that look amazing on TR6s. All in all, the look of the car is well above average for the price. The suspension and engine are tight and leak free (to British car standards, of course) and she starts and runs just fine. TR6s are very robust cars and if given proper maintenance, can go for many trouble-free miles, so this one was checked properly and given just a few upgrades. The ignition has been upgraded to a Pertronix electronic distributor and 8mm plug wires. The oil filter adapter has been upgraded as well. The exhaust system is new with quad Monza pipes. The troublesome and hard to tune factory carburetors were changed to Webers, much easier to adjust and with an added performance advantage. The interior is even nicer with many new parts like carpets, door panels, side panels, seats, steering wheel, dash pad, window seals, shift knob and boot, etc. All the gauges work, as do the warning lights and the wood dash was refinished. The radio has been deleted. The trunk is in amazing shape and has another new Michelin X mounted on the spare wheel. As stated earlier, she not a trailer queen and but certainly not a money pit either, she needs nothing and is ready to be driven. Please email if there are any questions and for more hi-res photots.
