Vehicle Detail

Up for grabs is a beautiful, all original 1976 Chalet K5 Blazer Cheyenne Package! This camper SUV was designed and built by GM, not some aftermarket company (well, the camper part was installed by Chinook Mobilodge, but it was designed by camping experts just for this truck). Fewer than 1800 were built in 1976 and early 1977, making them some of the rarest off-roaders ever built. This truck was produce in the first month of production (April '76) and was sold new in St. Louis, MO and relocated to California before moving East a few years ago. A clear Georgia title is in hand along with original owner's manual and documentation all the way back to original owner. While fewer than a hundred are still know to exist of the approximate 1,700 built, very few can be found on the East Coast. Based on the capable second generation K5 Blazer, this is the home that can go virtually anywhere. Have a favorite fishing spot but it's way out in the middle of nowhere? This is your truck. Want to take the family on an adventure into the mountains? Here's the ticket. With everything great about the Blazer plus the ability to live in the wilderness, it's perhaps the ultimate RV. Versatile as the larger motor home but with a brawny V8 and 4-wheel-drive, it's more than a match for any terrain. And just try to find another one that is as clean as this. Having spent most of its entire life in a warm, dry climate, the steel bodywork is exceptionally clean and wears a very '70s paint job in Neutral and Grecian Bronze. The fiberglass camper portion is beautifully preserved and shows no cracks or other damage. All body panels are rust-free and fit as they are suppose to fit. Original paint buffs to a beautiful shine and undercarriage is clean and not gooped with tons of spay paint or undercoat to hide hidden rust or original panels. Inside, it's typical Blazer up front, with seating for two and a wood-paneled dashboard full of gauges. A column-shifted automatic makes driving easy, but there's also a center-mounted gear lever for the New Process 205 T/C which offers both high and low ranges. A Kenwood stereo provides entertainment in the woods and it's loaded with cruise control, A/C, and a tilt wheel. But the real story is in back, where there's a lot more room than you'd think, and with the top popped, there's enough headroom even for folks over six feet tall. Built-in cabinets, a propane stove, a sink, a refrigerator, and a removable tabletop make it a fully functional home away from home, although you'll have to figure out restroom facilities once you reach your destination. Fold-down seating on the sides provides a dining area as well as sleeping accommodations for two (four if you have kids and want to stow them up top). All the hard-to-find original equipment is in place and in great condition, so you won't worry about missing components that are impossible to replace. Origianal carpet, curtains on rear door with added blinds help give you the comfort and privacy you need for a good night's sleep after a long day of hunting or hiking. The engine is Chevy's powerful and reliable 350 V8 with only 77k miles andnew Edlebrock 4bbl carburator/aluminum intake, perfect for getting into the wilderness, cruising the highways, State Parks or rugged back roads. From years of West Coast living, it's ultra clean under the hood and a new A/C compressor in 2003 means that it stays nice and chilly inside (currently needs recharging). It's been dressed up a bit with chrome valve covers and air cleaner, and runs well. Two extra gas 50 gallon tanks have been added underneath and new 31x10.5-15 BFG all-terrain tires have been fitted, making this truck ready for adventure. If you like the vintage and versatile, 70s-styling and a dependable driver, this is the truck you have been looking for! * Original driver's seat and rear seating cushions have a couple seam tears which can easily be repairs at low cost (I wanted to leave it all original) ** Original canvas in great condition with only one or two tiny holes which can be sealed at an upholstery shop (again, I wanted to leave it all original) *** A/C needs charging but functions fully **** Shipping arrangements and costs are the full responsiblity of the buyer although, I will assist with pick up from seller's home address ***** Hood repainted within the past year due to wear and thining of paint (Cherolet was famous for not always getting good coverage on these year model trucks) ****** All gauges work and oil pressure is strong and temp stays cool regardless of driving conditions since I have owned it ******* Some photos displayed were taken while in dry storage over the past year Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE On Nov-19-12 at 12:17:04 PST, seller added the following information:
