Vehicle Detail
1976 Olds Starfire Monza clone project. I purchased the car with intent of making it a pro-touring car, but unfortunately I have too many other projects and it has to go. The owner before me started converting the car from a Starfire to a Monza clone. The car has a 355 SBC with a Saginaw 4spd and what I was told to be a Ford 9" posi rear(not sure what gear-but lays down two tracks) . I was told the engine had a mild rebuild recently and looking under the valve covers, it appears to be. It runs great, but probably could use a tune-up from sitting for the last couple years. The trans seems to shift fine but the factory shifter is a little sticky. The clutch is heavy and the trans has a scattershield bellhousing on it. The frame has been tied front to back and it has a torque arm that runs from the rearend and mounts to the trans. The car has been converted to 5 lug wheels front and back. When I first bought the car, the front brakes were completely locked-up. I replaced the front rotors, calipers and pads but can't seem to be able to bleed the air from the lines. I think there is a small leak in a hose/line allowing air to get in. For this reason, the car will need to be trailered. The body is average and will need some attention. I do have a pretty rust-free parts car that will go with the car if the buyer wants it. The only real bad area is the front floorpans. The quarters, rockers, fenders, and body mounts are in good condition. The parts car has eveything else needed for the body. I do have both interiors from both cars but they are both pretty rough. Probably best finding new interior or re-doing it completely. If you have any questions, please feel free to call me @ 312-459-4294 Thanks, Dave.
