Vehicle Detail
I purchased this vehicle in 2002. It had 30,600 miles on it at the time. I have used it as a daily driver until April of this year. What can I say -- this is one tired, 20-year-old automobile, good for parts, or with some effort, a winter car. It runs and drives, although I last had it running a month ago. Since then, we've had some cold weather and apparently the battery has died; currently, the engine cranks but does not start. When running, the car rides smooth, stops fine, shifts fine, but I am hearing a little bit of power steering noise and the car may be low on fluid. I had some exhaust work done over a year ago, so the pipes from the catalytic converter on back are relatively new. However, the car is still making a lot of exhaust noise under the hood. The radiator leaks so you need to pay close attention to the temp gauge. The battery tray is shot. Many of the accessory features are currently weak or disabled. The power windows all work, but the rears are temperamental. Cruise control and anti-lock brakes are not functioning. AC works but needs a charge. The power antenna motor runs continuously without raising or lowering the antenna; I've pulled the fuse last year to disable that feature. As a result, the rear tailgate release is also not currently functioning and it appears to have frozen up and will need some work to release. The struts on the tailgate window are spent. The rear wiper is broken off. The driver's side door is beginning to sag at the hinge (a bushing should fix this). The driver's side rear view mirror is glued into position. The interior is showing its age, although the rear seat is in excellent condition, if you need one in blue! Shortly after purchasing the car, it struck a deer. The repairs were made, which included a new hood, grille, headlight and turn signal, and radiator. The radiator wall was also straightened. A few years later, the car was sideswiped by a tractor-trailer; as you can see from the photos, repairs were not made, other than replacing the rear view mirror. The front bumper and driver's side front fender and door are damaged. In addition, trim is missing from both sides. The windshield has a small crack in the upper driver's side corner; all other glass is fine. The front tires are due to be replaced; the rear all-weather tires are practically new. Please note that the car exhibits the typical Caprice frame rust, in the areas in front of the rear wheels. Also, one of the gas tank brackets has come loose. During my ownership of this car, I purchased another Caprice that was stripped for parts, most of which I have never used. I am throwing them in with the car for your enjoyment. Please examine all the photos -- what you see is what you get. The winning bidder will be responsible for taking away the car. I WILL NOT SHIP. The car is being sold as-is. If you need for detailed information about the car, I can be reached at (585) 624-2633.
