Vehicle Detail
1967 Toyota Land Cruiser FJ45 Pickup Truck BARN FIND Toyota FJ40/45 restoration shop offering this truck as a running/driving restoration project. I’ve owned approximately 20 FJ45 trucks over the years, this is the best rot free start I’ve had. I’m selling this truck to help finance two high dollar restorations I’m knee deep in right now. I planned to completely restore this 67 truck, but do not have the time. This is the perfect clean slate non-hacked up or molested vehicle to do that nice stock restoration. This truck spent 3 weeks in my shop being worked on to bring it to a running/driving state. Picture of this 67 next to my personal restored 65 FJ45 short bed truck and a 1976 FJ40 I just completed and sold to give some contrast and to show the finished product. Click or copy and paste the link below for 172 pictures on photobucket. http://s953.photobucket.com/albums/ae11/fj40man79/1967%20FJ45%20Truck%20Nov%2012/ FJ45 HISTORY Here is a link to the TLC website with specs regarding this truck. http://www.tlc4x4.com/2000/SpecPages/fj45_specs.htm This particular truck was purchased new in the high desert of eastern Washington, a two hour drive from my shop. It was used as a parts hauler and utility vehicle for a winery until it was parked in the early 1980’s due to a broke rear axle. The rear axle leaked out oil causing the gears to lock up. One side axle shaft was removed, the truck was forgot about and parked until I purchased it in 2012. I’ve known about this truck for 4-5 years, it took that long to buy it and get the title. I’ve brought this truck back to life (somewhat), I have it running and driving on its own power. This truck is not ready for the road, just to move around, I’ve driven it 5 miles. MECHANICAL The original F motor with low miles runs excellent, no burning oil. I received this truck not running since the 80’s. I went through proper procedure of oiling the cylinders for a few days before firing it. I cleaned out the carburetor, fuel tank, fuel tank seal kit. I installed new fuel lines and some hoses, gaskets that were leaking profusely, new spark plugs, bled the brakes, fuel pump, clutch slave, brake master, brake cylinders, battery. New oil, brake fluid, antifreeze, gear oil top-off. My intention was to get this truck to a running/driving state, to a point it can move under its own power. The original rear axle was not able to be saved. The axle shaft was pulled out 30 years ago letting water inside the already exploded gear set. I replaced the axle with a period correct FJ40 rear axle. The FJ40 axle is exactly the same, the only difference being the FJ45 axle had a factory sway bar on it, I removed the sway bar from the 45 axle, it is included. The tires were completely dry rotted, but the original wheels are in good shape. I received 3 wheels/tires with the vehicle as the axle shaft and 4th tire/wheel are long gone. I’ve included those 3 wheels/tires and added a 4th wheel/tire that is factory correct for this year. That set will be included with the vehicle. I bought this truck 98% complete, I added any missing lens or part from my collection to make it as complete as possible. The exhaust was damaged so I removed it, so it is straight piped off the exhaust manifold. BODY This is the most original rot free example of a FJ45 truck I’ve owned or have seen. I could not find any notable rot, I think the pictures on the link tell the story. This truck sat in the high desert for 30 years resulting in the paint baking off. There is surface rust all over this truck, it does not look pretty right now, but any restoration shop will tell you this is the best way to buy any classic vehicle. If possible, look at several other FJ45 and FJ40 trucks for the rust issues, then look at this one. I can also really show the difference in person as I have several rusty trucks. Or, just look at the couple hundred pictures on photobucket. There is no bondo hiding, you can see all the metal and the real story. The surface rust comes off with sanding. I removed the original skid plate to fill up the boxes, I have to point out the plate is near perfect leading me to believe this truck had an easy life. I’ve bought many cruisers with a decent paint job hiding mounds of body filler which result in thousands of dollars in rust repair. Bondo can hide from even the most trained eye with a decent paint job. Those issues are not relevant with this vehicle. There are only a handful of these trucks in the US, the 67 model year was the last US import, it has the removable top, the most desired import year as well. Most of these trucks have been restored or modified several times over the years, this one has never been molested. A true Barn Find. The panels are original to this truck. In the early 80’s this truck was not collectable, they were used as trucks. Rare and special to find a forgotten about desired vehicle ready to bring back to life. FJ45 trucks did not hit main stream collectability until the early 2000’s. Most were used for work, and beat to death. The original color is “Freeborn Red” which is my favorite on this year truck. Many components are interchangeable with the 40 series trucks, there are several aftermarket companies that support this restoration. There are limited resources for some of the 45 series parts such as the roof, hard top, and bed. Those parts on this truck are in great shape saving quite a bit of money vs. the usual hand built pieces I’ve had to do in the past on other 45 restorations. CCOT are making some replacement panels now, which is definitely a good thing. Finding a FJ45 truck barn find is hard enough, finding one with the title is even more difficult. The title, tags, frame all match. Original numbers matching components minus the rear axle. I actually have the exploded original axle if you want it. Fj-40 fj 40 fj 45 bj42 bj40 landcruiser I require a $1500 non-refundable deposit via PayPal within 6 hours closed auction, the remainder within 5 business days. I will mail you the title and paperwork directly after funds are cleared. I accept cash in person or bank to bank wire transfer. I prefer these two methods, but will take a cashiers check, but there is a delay in clearing those these days from out of state buyers. I have US Bank so a check from them is easy. I have a shipping broker whom has done perfect for me the last 69 shipments, I will put you in contact with him or work with your desired shipper. I do not take or make money on shipping, I’ve found a broker whom I trust, so I pass that on to you. I can usually get you this truck within 3-7 days from cleared payment in the lower 48, international shipments need to go through another shipping provider. I have this auction set up as a reserve. I may send a 2nd chance offer to the high bidder if the reserve is not met. However, these trucks usually do not make it until the end of the auction. Reserve will not be disclosed.
