This model Land-Cruiser the FJ55 was a very limited production Landcrusier wagon. It is an Iconic design with tough rugged good looks and the legendary Japanese reliability, she continues to this day to be the number one choice for extreme conditions worldwide. Even though this timeless design has withstood the test of time, the old mechanicals like: manual steering, manual drum brakes, six cylinder single barrel carbureted engine and manual 3 speed transmission... just to name a few, were not useable in today's modern super highway world. With the mission to develop this vintage 4x4 into a more modern, more daily drivable machine, not giving up the cool vintage looks we start with a rare find... a 1 owner, super low mile (30k), 100% rust free Arizona vintage wagon. When we disassembled the truck. Stripped the rust free body of the old paint and restored the paint in DuPont Chroma (best paint on the market), we stripped and repainted the under carriage (fully rust proofed), Next we re-engineered it by removing the straight six and re-power it with a V8, replaced the 3 Speed with a syncomeshed 4 Speed Transmission, added Power Steering, Power Brakes, Added a flow through exhaust system, doubled the fuel capacity with an extended range 40 gallon Gas Tank & Skid Plate, plus a Series III Reese Trailer Tow package, Modern springs and shock, add a modern Stereo System, modernized the interior and continued the restoration throughout. Today she is in top condition, ready to enjoy. Completed in 2009, the project took 14 months with over 85K invested. This Cruiser has since accumulated only 6,000 miles of reliable and trouble free weekend driving in the Laguna California area. As a 1973 model she has to top benefits: 1) she has the better metal body and is not prone to rust. 2) she is fully "Smog & Emissions" exempt in all 50 states, including fully exempt in California. So not more yearly smog tests!! Ready to be a daily driver for show and go. This FJ55 is available to be seen and test driven at Vintage Offroad’s main facility in Flagstaff, AZ.
