Vehicle Detail
For sale is a 1964 Dodge Polara, 4dr hardtop. It is currently not running, and will need to be towed/hauled. The mileage, I assume, is 147k. The old odometers on these cars only have 5 digits, so it reads (and works) at 47k. I wasn't able to completely tear down the engine like I had planned, I do know it could use some work on the cylinder heads, I was planning on removing them and sending them to a shop. The last time (a few weeks ago) that I had it running, it had some trouble starting, fuel wasn't getting to the carb. A shot of carb cleaner got it started. This is more than likely either a clogged fuel filter or malfunctioning fuel pump, both relatively inexpensive and easy fixes.More info:5.2L 318 "Poly" - The semi-hemi. These can be overbored and stroked to over 390ci if you really wanted.Stromberg 2bbl carbTorqueflite Push-Button Automatic Transmission. Exterior - Solid shape, little to no rust. Prev. owner removed trim and patched the holes, I still have all the trim however. It has new roofrail weatherstripping, but it needs adhesive. I just placed it in to protect it from all the rain we've had this summer. Tires are brand new, aftermarket rims (the "chrome" cover plates on the rims are not on the rear wheel in the photo, but I have them.)Brakes - New master cylinder, new shoes. Could stand to be bled, but they work, as does the parking brake.Suspension/Steering - Rode nicely, steering perhaps a bit loose, but I haven't dived into it.Electrical - All exterior electricals work, except the front turn signals. Interior needs electrical work, bulbs aren't working, even with replacements. Positive battery cable needs replaced.Transmission - Shifts nicely, but has a slow fluid leak. Probably a seal, but I don't have the space to get underneath and check it fully.Engine - Like I said, cylinder heads should be sent out; driver's side exhaust manifold gasket is shot, I have replacements already. Fuel filter/fuel pump should be replaced. Carb was recently rebuilt.Interior - Needs a headliner, seats and seatbelts are in great shape, no cracks or tears. The carpet is in decent shape as well. The dash needs a new pad, and a glove box. The heater/ac push button controls are missing. These are the only things I am aware of. From a restoration standpoint, It is a great starting point. Prior to the fuel delivery problem, I had driven it short distances every couple of weeks without issue. The top end is just set back in place for transporting. I don't want to sell this car, but I need to. New job requires a commute, so I can't take on a car payment and still afford to do work on my baby. I'd rather it go to someone who can, as opposed to sit in my driveway untouched. If you are looking for a unique project, look no further. You won't find many of these around, and it will stand apart from the late 60/early 70 Camaros, Chevelles, and Corvettes that fill up the car shows. If you have any other questions, let me know! Thanks for looking!
